there are no (reported) long term problems associated with using synthetic or mineral oil. Just as long as you use the correct viscosities.

I use TRUST rotary oil myself

hehe, I live less than 30 minutes from the refinery in Porter. My recommendation is that anything that's purple and comes from Houston is probably the best stuff you can get

I recently had the same tranny oil put in, so the spec is correct.

I still prefer to use the mineral rotary oil for the engine but I understand many are happy to use synthetics and haven't had a problem. The key is not to mix them...

The reported reason for change to Mazda rotary (mineral base) oil is to avoid build-up on inlet ports. Has anyone seen a Renesis stripped down after running exclusively on synthetic?

Ummm I believe its the exhaust ports. Theory being (I believe) that the synthetic oils weren't being burnt off and so leaving a residue that builds up.

The point about mixing I think was that its pointless switching one change to synthetic, one to mineral as you are degrading the "quality" of the synthetic and you may as well just use one.

Cheers

you got the right transmission oil, but shouldn't the engine oil be 10w30? Don't know much about oil and how the 5w30 would affect in engine designed to take 10w30.

However, there is a chart in the owners manual about operating temperature. I may suggest another oil if you live in Antarctica. haha.

Summertime temperatures around here match closer to 10W30 according to the users manual. There is no mention of 5W anything. Finding it is even harder.
I will be topping up with 10W30 from now until about March or 20000km whichever comes first.

I used to use TRUST rotary oil up till recently (~60k kms). Changed to Royal Purple and have been running with it for about 5k kms now and the biggest difference I've noticed is that:
1) my average coolant temps are higher (~183F vs. ~190F), and a higher peak temp idling in traffic (~202F vs. ~208F)
2) I need to top up more often, about every ~200-300kms or so compared to every ~700-800kms.

Think I'll be going back to TRUST.

used royal purple tranny and diff.. after two track days.. i dont think i would try it again.... i find it rather clunky when cold.. its alright when it heats up.. but how often can u get it heat up to the point like track ? and the life span.. dont really impress me... now i feel the diff needs changing too.. bcoz i can feel the car no so smooth.. see what happens when i change back to OEM diff or redline... not 100% sure if is the diff oil yet...

now i am on motul tranny oil.. much smoother when is cold.. pending on track day .. see if it lives up the test...
