Key Programming Conflict Problem

I have searched and searched but cannot find this problem I''ve come across.
I have a new compatable remote and key for the 05 switchblade key. I have a early 04 model RX8 that I would like to have a switchblade fob for. I received a blank key for the switchblade that came from the UK. to replace the already cut one that I got on ebay, I have followed the D.I.Y. many times but cannot get it to programe. I put the first two in the ignition wait until the security light goes out ect... and then put the new cut key in and it blinks fast after finishing the steps. It will turn in the ignition and even turn the accessories on but will not start the car. I was told it may be because it isnt the frequency range that the ECU expects. Could this be true or is something just screwy here because I cant find anyone that has had this problem after following the D.I.Y. on key coding.
HELP!!!

Are you sure the key you got from the UK is for he RX8 and not the mazda 6? Dont know if that would make a dif, but it's a thought.

I actually purchased all three pieces seperatly but I know that the remote is RX8 compatable and that the key top that holds the key blank doesnt matter, its universal. The key blank is for a mazda switchblade fob. I can't image the car being able to differentiate where the key blank is from.

The key part is the area that has the chip right? The chip has to mate with the car... if the key opens the door and trunk, it's properly cut. If it wont start the car I would think 1 of 2 things.

1. You have maxed out of amount of programmable keys permitted or
2. Something is wrong with the chip in your key

Can you have a dealer check? It will cost an arm and a leg for what they have to do but it's a start. Sorry I couldnt help.

I appretiate any help, but I may have figured out my problem. I think the top part of the key that holds the blank I had cut isnt compatable. I think (still unsure) that the conductive part that gets coded (the chip) is actually in that top part. It doesnt seem like anyone can give me a stright answer but I will try to get another top part and go by trial and error.

The Chip IS in the part with the key. I'm 99.9% sure of that.
