I snapped a pic of the red light in the #70's nose. Definitely a light, not a glow. Not sure the purpose of it though. Maybe to better see if debris gets picked up there?

Maybe to intimidate people ahead of it?

 

The Sahlens RX-8s are so slow, they were the #69 and 70 RX-8s of last year. This just shows the difference in the skills of the drivers.

The red light inside the grille of the 70 is sick, but they are currently lacking some go. Hopefully the track dries up more so the P cars would have their rears chewed up. They are too fast on wet surface.

Also, what happened to the #30 Racers Edge 8. It was leading but is out of the race right now. Do they need to re-think what drivers they sign?

Honestly I dont htink the red lights are for debris....if they have an issue like that, they use flashlights. A lot of the GT cars have LED's down the windshield or other places just to look good. Sponsors like that stuff.... I'm pretty sure they're just there to look badass :-)

#69 just hit the tire barrier messed up the car pretty good. during it's surge back to the top.

 

Trembly just said they intentionally held back due to the conditions and planned to make a move during the night when it is cool and dry.

 

Must have just been body damage or other light easily fixed damage fortunately. Only lost 4 laps.

Haven't seen it on TV yet, but the live scoring has them 10 laps back, and when it went green, their lap time updated to 1:57, only 5 seconds off from their best posted, so must be back on track.

 

Any updates on the damage on the #69?

Speed again is showing only DP class, and specifically Jimmie Johnson.

Let's hope the #70 stay out of trouble.

69 just update from 10 laps down to 9 laps down. Looks like the damage wasn't severe or critical.

 

Yeah, they just showed it passing under caution, no visible damage in the brief clip, even single frame stepping through.

Hrm, vibration felt in the #70, still there with a tire rechange. Grrr.

 

#41 just set their fastest lap, 1:51.139

#69 is up a spot to 12th under green, so I'd say they are repaired and back at it. Woohoo!

Edit:
#41 backed up their fastest lap on 163 by beating it with a new fastest on 164, which is the fastest lap of the race for GT, about a second faster than the fastest of the leading Porsche's.

 

the first year for cars usually finds small bugs like vibration. lets hope they get it taken care of within the next two hours so they can really humm along at night. there in great position for this time of the race. similar to last year. just lets keep from any problems please. and other 8's are working out some of there kinks

Have an entire channel dedicated to NASCAR and a second channel dedicated to every other series which gets the shaft when NASCAR comes on,,, then we might get things like the JGTC EuroLMS and other super exciting race series...
I mean seriously all everyone has talked about all day long is ,,, Americas Greatest Race/Venue, so much history blah blah blah and then we get a night hickville FATCAR race,,,

 

We should ask Speedsource to do what TMS does, set up a live cam, I wouldn't mind looking at David Haskell at work all night and see what goes on in the pits.

The red light is likely there to differentiate that car from another on the track at night. We used all types of lights to tell our cars apart. When you have 4 or 5 cars coming toward you on pit lane at 1am they all look the same. You need something to KNOW when your car is about to enter YOUR box.

That's my thought anyway. Same with the lights on the A pillars and such, they are not here for the sponsors.
