12Vtoolbox and another website were posted on here several pages back. It was discussed that these are pre-orders. Despite one even saying "in stock." (and this was weeks ago) Several people in this thread also claim they just talked directly to Metra a couple days ago and were told it's still a few weeks out.

I'm not going to believe it until someone has it in their hands. Sounds like Bigfoot to me....

I pre-ordered one from installer.com and I recently had the following email exchange with one of their customer service reps:

================

Maybe mid Oct. I will change it to high gloss. No extra charge.

High gloss please. Do you know when they will be in stock?
Thanks,
Greg

Yeah i know i hate that the single din is more as well but I preordered anyway, still better then $500 for corksport. Doubt mid Oct I was already told early Oct by Dwayne then after someone said on here metra said 3-4 weeks, so maybe Installer will have them end of Oct and ship them out to customers early November.

I wonder if its ready already and they are just busy making a big batch to ship out, rather then have a small limited amount of them shipped out, that could be to, I wouldnt think they would still be working on the bugs.

Metra Kit installed!

I have been following the Metra kit saga on these forums since mid-July but I had not registered as a user until this week so that I could share my great news.....

My local dealer received my pre-ordered dash kit on Monday and I was able to have my Alpine IVA W-505 installed yesterday. Only one problem with the kit, my dealer ordered the high gloss kit and was shipped the flat black kit. I quickly informed the installer that it would be fine because it may take weeks to get a replacement.

I will post photos of the installation later this evening.

psshh like that would happen.

PS. I dream of a day when the damn kit will be old news and every other post won't revolve around it.

I remain skeptical until pics are posted. I was about 20 seconds away from actually ordering, and then I thought to myself, wait a minute, this is the metra kit we're talking about here, what are you doing. I'm not getting my hopes up even in the face of everyone coming out and saying it's shipped or orders are going out, etc, until I see had proof, lol.

Hey guys. I heard they were releasing a bare bones version. It's only $99, but you have to use your own wire to connect the HVAC control box, glue the plastic together for the dash, then just sand primer and paint it! All for $99!!!!! Boy I sure I'm glad I didn't pay $420 for that damn Corksport kit.

HAHA! I just hate when some new product, suggestion, procedure, rumor, or process comes onto any board and takes over. All of a sudden it's the bees knees and cannot be touched by anything. And anyone against it receives death threats. I see this ALL the time in car audio.

I think it's because the industry is so secretive and competitive at the same time.

No. It's because the industry is full of younger kids/teenagers/young adults who all want to pimp their rides. "Oh man did you hear JL came out with a new such and such? It's the hsit! Nothing can touch it." You get a lot of talk like that spread around the net. (another place frequented more by younger people) Take a stab at how many people recommend equipment to other people without even hearing it for themselves? You can recommend it, but don't convince the person that it's the best thing since sliced bread, when you actually have zero experience with it.

Well I meant.. let's say with computers: It's quite easy to find professional reviews on new equipment as they are being released.

Not the same with car audio... it's pretty much just speculation and word of mouth.
