I'm in.

Alright. I'm paid up.

My '09 and I will both be enjoying our first road track experience in November.

For other track noobs like me, know that as a part of this package Speed Ventures is offering beginners 2 sessions of private instruction for $60 and they'll rent you a helmet if you don't have one.

Thanks due to Jedi for words of encouragement.

steezy_11 we're working with Speed Ventures to find out... low turn out by the RX Community has things in a spin now. We still need to sell spots to make our $$ back, so things are changing.

Track Day Insurance

Hi,

So for those of you planning to track your cars at Seven Stock, what (if anything) do you typically do about insurance? My current auto policy doesn't appear to cover HPDEs (high performance driving events)... and I don't know how safe Speed Ventures events are, so...

Bear in my my RX-8 isn't paid for an is a daily driver...

Thanks for all guidance.

- C.

Gary/Eddie running as #55. 8 8's now registered. 3rd time at Fontana. Best 2:08.233 on 5/27/2011. Last time there I paid $300. Can't go wrong at 1/2 price! Probably will instruct.

No joy there, but track days are really safe, so long as you're paying attention, and the only way to run your car near or at full chat. I've only seen 2 "tow aways" in 7 years and those were clearly guys who had no clue what they were doing and driving like they were at the arcade "walling" their throttles deep into corners. SV is probably the best track sponsor around, very well organized. Sign up for instruction, if new, and that will get you up to speed and coming back for more. Our 8's are meant for the track like no other production car, supremely balanced - a dream to drive fast. Be sure to have at least 1/3 pad life or you could be metal2metal by the end of the day, if running super hard. BTW, our pads are guaranteed, so we get free pads for the asking! You won't regret the 1/2 price SS track fees too, and can apply some of the savings toward instruction. My students are pretty much comfortable to go on their own by the end of the second session. Feel free to PM me for orientation, if you register.

If you're concerned about it, I buy my track insurance through Lockton Motorsports. Lockton is an international insurance brokerage that put together a program for HPDE insurance.

The deductibles are typically 10 or 15%, and you have to come up with an agreed value on the car. their site is here HPDE Insurance - Lockton Motorsports -

I am an insurance agent, but can't sell/represent Lockton in this though =P too bad...

don't worry, I'll be slower than you. I'd love to take some laps w/ you or have you sit in with me for a session if you're going to be driving in the advance group...

I think since 2011, they changed the track a little bit - if i recall correctly, they tightened up the turn leading up to the straightaway...

Wow! Less than 1/3 of the expected 150 trackers, so only two run groups instead of four with only about 20 in each run group? I registered too late to be in Orange, so I won't be doing the first session, unless SV has me drive a lead car and/or take someone on a ride-along. We need to get more cars out there. Even with the down economy 1/2 price is hard to ignore, so let's pass the word. I wouldn't expect a repeat for next year, given SV won't be any where near break even, this year. We're still two weeks out, so still time to get the word out.
