ON Oil changes

Hello All,

I want to know your opinions on where the best place is to get an oil change.

Should I take it to mazda or quick lube or a somewhere else.

Mazda has quote me 52$ +tax.

I would do it myself but I live in a condo. Moving into a house next summer so I will prob need an oil change or two till then.

Thanks in advance.

No matter where you take it they could easily screw it up. However I think you have better odds at the Mazda dealer. They would also then have the record of you coming in.

In the apartments I lived in before they said no major mechanical work but I did all sorts of things in the parking lot anyway, never had an issue.

Agree dealer is best. Quick lube places? I judge 'em on a case-by-case basis. Lots of horror stories out there, but on the other hand I took my Miata to the same Pennzoil Quick Lube place for years. They were always clean, careful and let me watch while they did it. Can't beat that.

I stopped taking my cars to Iffy Lube when I saw a "technician" tightening the oil drain plug by hitting the wrench with a hammer.

Really?
You shouldn't need to tighten aggressively if you've used a crush washer.

I've never had to torque up the elbow torque wrench on the drain plug.
