Mazdaspeed3 turbo on my rx8
Hey guys, so I just a few questions regarding turbocharging the s2 engines vs s1 rennys. Ive read plenty of threads regarding installing turbos on the 8 but they all included using the greddy or turbonetics unit. I recently bought a speed3 turbo from my buddy's 3 that he spun a bearing on. I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience putting this turbo on the 8 and if so how much of a bump am I looking at with this tiny unit, I'm realistically not trying to get more than 300hp. I'm hoping it will bring me to like 260-270is hp. Is this possible?

Ahh ok. Yea I didn't know if I would be able to use it or if such a tiny turbo would even give me any real hp gain. I wanna make around 260-70 but don't want to spend 4k+ for the greddy or esmeril kits. I don't think their worth that much for so little of a gain. I was just hoping to get some insight on possibilities if any are available for it, I guess IL just have to sell it to my speed3 and 6 friends.

Hey thanks for the advice guys, ll definitely keep looking into a greddy kit if it's that reliable. Just wanted to know my options regarding the turbo route and pricing wise. I previously had an 04 s1 that blew and I had the engine rebuilt and Bridgeported for around 4-5k with a tune. As well as a 20b that I originally intended to swap that I bought for 6k. This is why my hesitation to pay a similar price for something that doesn't give the same gains reliably comes from.

I think that if you are going to boost your renesis, you should go into it EXPECTING that you are going to blow up your engine and plan accordingly... it seems like it's not really an if, but a when.....
let's be real though, it's pretty much a when for unboosted renny's too!
