Cobb Access Port basics

I have a bone stock 09 RX8 AT. I see alot of posts about the Cobb Accessport. What are the benefits of this unit? I don't want to do anything that will void my warranty, but I would like to improve mpg and HP. Will the Cobb do this? What else will it do? Sorry if this is too basic a question.

Last I heard, Cobb was not going to develop a unit for the 2009+ RX-8s so I doubt MM can do anything about that.

It will currently do nothing for your 09... unless Cobb and/or MM have series II maps.

It is a bit more involved than just maps. There are programming changes that would need to be made to allow the AP to work with the Series II RX8.

I was trying to stick with just the basics, Al

And once it does come out, don't be surprised if it takes a couple firmware updates for them to cover all variants.... I remember having to beta a couple firmwares being an early adopter and all.

Trying to think of the benefits of an AP if you stick NA on an series II and I'm coming up empty. with the omp issue "resolved" I guess the only thing left over is 14.1

There is no 2009+ AccessPORT at the present time.
It is unlikely that there will ever be.

Thanks for the input. Sorry to hear that the CObb won't be available. I was asking because I had a vendor send me the e-mail below when I asked about what they could do to improve my vehicle:

The first 3 things we suggest be done are ;

1) BHR Ignition System as this cures several issues/concerns at the same time.
2) The Cobb AccessPort from MazdaManiac.
3) Have your clutch pedal reinforcement-welded.
