They should with stock height. I would be careful the fronts to avoid inner rubbing under steering lock situations.

I'm at stock height and they ended up fitting perfect. No rubbing at any point lock to lock or in the back. I just got back from Deals Gap Rotary Rally, racking up around 600 miles on them. I attached a pic of the car at the event.

Thanks for the help,
James

That's fantastic! Looks sharp. How do you find the handling compared to the skinnier 225?

I had moved up to 245/40 on the stock wheels some time ago so it would be hard for me to compare to the 225s. However, there was still a noticeable improvement in lateral grip. Part of that can be attributed to the new BFG Comp 2 AS tires which seem to be more capable than the Continental ContiContactExtreme AS tires I was running on the 18s. What I was most surprised by was the ride quality which actually seemed to improve with the 19s. I was expecting something harsher and less forgiving.

I was pulling just over 1G laterally in some of the turns on the dragon according to my Garmin Virb data. for all seasons, I'm pretty pleased.

Hi all, I just picked up an 8. I have extra wheels laying around so I was wondering with coilovers, would 18x9.5 +22 with 255/35 fit with a fender roll? What kind of alignment setting would I need?

Sounds like an Evo X setup...

My thought is you'd have quite a bit of poke, but if you're going for "stance nation" then maybe that's good?

You might want to let everyone know what you're going for to get a good answer, but my two cents is it's a bad idea. I'm no expert though.

+22 & 9.5" wide wheels will give you poke. Aggressive alignment will net you hellaflush look if you are into that sort of thing.

Some tires even at 255/35 might rub at the front on steering lock conditions.

for the show only not racing
in the rear 11 inch tires size (( 315 30 18 ))
i want the wheels to be inside the fender
as much as possible
maybe 7.2 back spacing?
with fender roll
lowered 1 in or 1.5
the tires will touch the suspension?

Rota RT5-R2 17x10 +50 fit with some minor grinding/shaving to the front calipers and brackets. good outboard space, a wee bit close up front to the coilover but no rubbing thus far with the bilstein B12 suspension kit. I have absolutely no fender mods. running 255/40/17 autocross street tires.

Changing Tires

Looking to go to 245/35/19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Currently have the stock 225/40/19 Bridgestone Potenzas and have no rubbing at all with my current suspension setup:

Stock Bilstein Shocks with Tein S-Techs
Front: 20mm Spacers
Rear: 25mm Spacers
Wheels:
Stock R3 19in BBS Wheels
Tires:225/40/19 Potenzas

No rubbing

My understanding is that going to 245/35/19 is a shorter sidewall and therefore I should have more clearance? Does that sound right? Just want to make sure I won't rub if I get new wider tires for autocross.

Those tires are super wide for stated size. Why do you have spacers in autox?

Haha true. Honestly, mainly cause i'm a NEWB and I have always had the spacers on and never thought to take them off for autoX. They are hubcentric though. If I had lots of $$$ I would get coilovers and wheels with proper offset. I mainly just autoX for fun, not trying to win anything, just like getting out.

Do you recommend sticking to 225/40/19 then?

Should I be taking them off for the track?

Thanks for the insight

I love those R3 wheels! Too bad the +50 offset results in a tucked in look. While I am not a fan of spacers I can see why you are running them to compensate.

IIRC the R3 wheels is 19x8. So 245 is ok for front. The rear might rub if you hit bumps and dips when loaded. Assuming you are on stock alignment and using those spacers.

I actually have more space in the back, it's the front that i'm worried about rubbing.

Oh and no I don't have stock alignment. I think i'm -1.8 in the rear and something like -1.6 in the front.

Didn't try to roll anything.... Bought the car cheap and it needed two fenders anyway so I figured I'd put the s2 fenders and lights. I sold the old bumper and headlights and bought 2used lights and a custom front bumper. I'm not that into it to care if it's a replica .

Then leading with this "Thanks to this site......" is going to need some explaining.

Well unfortunately, most people will probably agree that what you did with the fenders and bumper was a bad choice.

Good luck.
