Tein H-Tech Springs installed
Anyone gotten the Tein H-Tech (not S-tech) springs yet? I'm curious about how they look (1" drop in front, 1/2 inch in rear) and how they ride as compared to stock.

That's right. The S-Tech are stiffer and have more drop: 1.2" front and 0.8" rear. The H Tech are close to the factory spring rates, and have less drop: 1.0" front and 0.5" rear.

Welp, I ordered my Tein H-tech springs off eBay today for $136. :D For me, these are the best compromise, as with Mazdaspeed side sills and the appearance package front spoiler, I didn't want to lose more than an inch of clearance.
Results of the install, drop, handling (etc) to follow after I get and install 'em. Stay tuned! :D

I'll try to get them installed this coming week, and will post pics and impressions soon thereafter.
As for what lip spoiler, etc, I have the factory appearance package front lip and rear flares with Mazdaspeed side skirts. All the details on this combo, and lots of pics, can be found here.

Ok, my Tein H-Tech springs are installed! :D
I only have about 100 miles on them so far, but my initial impressions are positive. Ride quality is as good as stock, perhaps a tiny bit firmer. This was the most important thing to me, as I really like the stock ride compromise of comfort versus control, and really didn't want a harsher spring. Mrs Omi wouldn't have liked it either. Anyway, the new springs feel good... really good so far. :D Turn in and cornering seems a bit more precise, but too early to tell until I can run the car through some of my favorite twisties.
A moderate drop was the second most important thing to me. So as far as drops go...
Front wheel, tire to wheel well lip: 1.25 inches
Rear wheel, tire to wheel well lip: 1.75 inches
Front wheel, rim to wheel well lip: 4.25 inches
Rear wheel, rim to wheel well lip: 4.75 inches
Sorry, but I forgot to write down the measurements on the wheel gaps beforehand.
The obnoxious too-big wheel well gap in the front is GONE!!! :D Car has a slight rake to it now, looks really really good. Handling feels as neutral as it was before, too.
Other measurements:
Center of appearance package front lip spoiler to ground: 5.5 inches
Left and right "corners" of appearance package front lip spoiler to ground: 6 inches
Front edge of Mazdaspeed side skirts to ground: 4.5 inches
Rear edge of Mazdaspeed side skirts to ground: 5 inches
Pics to follow tomorrow. Sorry, but it was dark when I got home, and I figured that last thing we need is another batch of crappy night shots.
Springs need at least a week or two and a few hundred miles to settle, but I figured you all would like to hear what they came out like so far. More to follow tomorrow. :D
