guys you'll need to perform bedding procedure at least 2x to transfer enough pad material to the rotor. Plus under normal driving condition this same layer gets abraded away overtime. There is no permanent solution to the squeaking brake issue unless like somebody posted earlier you get one of those $99 non-semimetallic pads through "just Brakes" or Midas shops. I think as long as the noise is not overly noisy then its just part of the package. I had other performance cars before and the brake squeals as well so it's not just an 8 thing.

Strange - did you do the procedure right? Had a nice BLUE continuous layer on the rotors? I cannot see how you removed it so fast.... I did it more than 1000 miles ago and I am still noise-free.... though the blue layer is thinner now (lighter color).

guys (and girls), I just did a quick and dirty way to stop the squealing brakes. I've done the bedding procedure and got rid of the squeal, but like RedSheDevil it comes back after a while due to lack of hard braking needed to regenerate the pad layer on the rotor face.

Anyway, while driving at about 35-40mph press on the brakes gently but firmly while keeping up on the accelerator maintaining the speed as much as possible. You will initially hear the squealing but it will diminish after about 3-5sec. Keep up on the braking for another 3-5sec and you'll see that the squeal will no longer be there the next time you use the brakes. I did mine while driving out of the community I live in so as not to alarm other drivers...

I'm wondering if this could be doing any harm? BTW, car is in for service now, will REBED upon her return to me and post results. This time I will do it enough to get the blue haze on the rotor...I don't think I did it enough last time.

RedSheDevil, you only need to do it for about 3-5sec hold. It works for me anyway and its not any harder on your rake system than doing the bedding procedure.

Progress Report:

I got my car back from the dealership and they "cleaned" the brakes for me. I immediately went out and did 2 really hard, consistent passes of the bedding procedure. I looked when I got back and there IS a blue tinge to the rotor now, so I think I've got it transferred properly.

Someone asked me how much space this procedure required: I needed just a little over a mile to do this (for 10x). I found it easier to keep her in 2nd gear for the whole thing (gotta love that rotary and her 9 redline). The hardest part is to find enough road to cool down the brakes without coming to a complete stop.

Yeah, you will look pretty weird doing this and probably attract some unwanted attention, so check out your surroundings for any 5-0 that might be lurking.

So far, no squeal — I'll keep you posted on whether it returns and how long it takes for the blue haze to disappear. Thanks to all who gave me instruction on how to do this!
