Rotor Thread

I searched and noticed that we don't have a rotor thread so here it is.
Post your concerns, questions, and info you have on rotors here.
I'll start off with a question because this isnt on here either
What are the differences in drilled, slotted, drilled-slotted rotors? From what I gather... (compared to each other not stock)
drilled - brakes slower, chance of cracking
slotted - brakes better, lasts longer
drilled/slotted - brakes the hardest, chance of the drilled holes cracking
that is what I understood...anyone care to elaborate?
has anyone actually had a drilled rotor crack on an RX-8???

if this is a re-thread flame me, ban me, and sell my call for parts

they all do the same things, drilled tends to crack more while slotted is less prone to cracking. how hard you can brake is mostly dependent on your brakepad compound. rotors with curved vanes tend to cool better, and 2 peice designs help reduce unsprung weight.

for cheap performance, most people i know that track use centric premium blanks, or you can get the more expensive 2 peice designs like the racingbrake, girodisk, dba, project mu, autoexe etc

read justjims brake faq thats stickied right on top of this forum,

that thread has some really good info!!!

BTW i thought id share that i was getting some pulsating in my breaks and my buddy instantly said warped rotors
it was actually build up from the brake pads from when they got too heated up from last track day and i came to a complete stop
rebedded the brakes and now it feels like they even have more bite and brakes smoothly all the way through

oh by the way it is VERY rare that our rotors warp if you are getting pulsating brake more than likely it is burnt brake buildup

thats how mine was
fixed it lastnight...sort of had my doubts that it would work but it did
no telling how much of my brakes i burned up rebedding them though
my buddy said he could see sparks and they were smelling pretty burnt
much better braking and no pulsation after rebedding though
