Racelands are only there to supply the height adjustability for people who are looking for a drop and nothing else. Again with anything you get what you pay for. As long as people know what they're buying I don't see the need to bash such a product so much.

That being said, for anyone who is interested these coilovers give you between 1"-3" drop, the spring rates haven't been released yet but don't expect anything high (much much lower than the typical 10/9k front and and 7/6k rear).
The height is not independent adjustable so by lowering the height you will be preloading the shocks (most likely way more than it should) which causes the terrible handling characteristics that most people associate with Racelands. Not only that, but from different shops, I've heard that the shocks can dyno different from each other which makes it worse. The biggest issue I've experienced with these shocks (on my friend's Miata) with these slammed to their lowest, they can/will blow out with aggressive driving.

That being said, the Ultimo version seems to be a bit more robust and not as bad in ride quality (less bouncy, the standard set slammed would bounce so much I've seen cars scrape on the highway going over a very slight dip). But I do not have as much experience with the Ultimos than I do with the standard set.

Regardless if you truly just want to go low and don't need anything else (ie low and slow dd or for show purposes only) these can be a highly cost efficient to get your "stance" setup.

I neglected to mention that there was a delay with shipping the parts from the research facility so the target date is the 24th. I should be hitting the canyon that day so we'll see how she handles on the bumps and corners!

There's no need to wait, it will handle like crap.

It still sounds better than "retailer in china". You have to admit that!

the funny thing is, is that if they make an affordable turbo manifold and downpipe combo for us i bet 90% of you guys wouldn't complain at all. lol

So my car is at raceland getting the coils put on as we speak. After talking to the design team I am very optimistic. They specifically said these coils will be more performance oriented than the ones they make for the ones they make for the WRX or old school VWs for example. They will still utilize the top hate of the stock "coils" to ensure proper fitment. The coils will not be camber adjustable. They are however 2 way adjustable. Ride height and spring adjustment are controlled by two separate plates. This is so that you can drop the car and retain the comfort of a stock ride. The coils will be marketed for at least a 3" drop. The product feels awesome and sturdy imho. I shall start my official road test tomorrow. Stay posted!!!

Take a long look at the suspension on an 8 and tell me why they didn't make them camber adjustable.

LOL...no "coils" are camber adjustable on the RX-8

Let us know how they handle......I'm guessing they will be stiff on compression to give the "racer" feel

No...because the shock has nothing to do with the camber adjustment on an A-Arm suspension

"2 way adjustable" doesn't refer to stiffness and ride height.
You're talking too much about a product that's closer to a turd than a shock. Wait for them to be ready and make sure to have them tested. Then post the shock plots and make us happy.

If they come out with independent ride height adjustment that'll be a huge plus (compared to the rest of the Raceland coilovers). It's always been my experience that problems come out from these coilovers when you pre-load the shock way to much by the drop, so if they can eliminate that, it should at least ride comfortably and not jack going over every single bump.

Like others said, it still boils down to how consistent the shock dynos come out and how well they match the spring rates. But if they stick to their typical price point, can you complain if they weren't perfect? (or anywhere close haha )

If more owners besides myself brought up the issue I bet it would happen. Business don't just waste money if there is no known market for it.

A cheap manifold on a hot hot engine? no thanks. Their manifolds already crack on NA miatas.

For ****'s sake, treat your rx8 as the great handling car it was designed to be. Stick to the real manufacturers or sell it and buy a civic.

Lol. I'll get some pictures for you next chance I get. The initial rear coils were made a tad bit short and we didn't feel comfortable with the fit. Plus they didn't have much adjustability so they will rework the rears and we'll be ready to get some real testing done. Sorry for the delay. -___-

Testing as in dyno plots, various valving solutions plus shock potentiometers on a dedicated track with a dedicated tester and lots of telemetry or testing as "I, the least skilled driver with the least knowledge the world has to offer, will test a car on a random road and base the results on my impressions?"

Why don't they just buy a set of someone else's product and copy it with cheap materials like everything else?

Yeah, they could team up with XXR and and XXRland coilovers.

If by least skilled driver you mean someone who takes courses and practices almost every weekend who will be testing these coils around miller motors ports track and the local Wasatch front roads then sure. I'll take that. I'm honestly testing as an average consumer. Not a colorer engineer. Honestly they probably won't be on the car after the turbo build is complete.

My friend bought a Riceland header for his '94 Miata.

It has a couple bolt ons and barely makes 120WHP. The header cracked at the flange around all four runners and at the Y connections within 4 months.

It had maybe 500 track miles and 500 street miles in that time frame.

How in the hell would they make a turbo manifold that would hold together for more than a couple dyno pulls on an RX-8?
