Raceland Coilovers

Yay! Now that I can finally make a thread outside of the newbie section and I'm no longer a lurker on the site I would just like to inform everyone that I am working with Raceland US to develop coilovers for the 2004-2008 Rx8. They are using my car as the test mule and in January I took my car in for measurements. I just received word on Thursday that we are a few more weeks out until the prototypes are fitted on my car at which time I will post some pictures. If you are not familiar with Raceland just know they are a good affordable street coilover. They go really low and don't sacrifice much in the ride department. I've been told they are not the best to track on but then again we will be testing that when we get them fitted. Please ask any questions you may have below. Thanks for reading(:

I guess this just shows how terrible the resale value is on these cars nowadays lmao...

Also sorry but Riceland makes dirt cheap, absolutely terrible riding coilovers that have no performance benefits over stock. No idea where you got the impression that they have a good reputation...

SayNoToPistons 03-18-2014 01:34 AM

I was hoping RiceLands wouldn't trickle down to our cars so soon. Back when they were released for the NA Miata, it was upsetting enough. OP, thanks for nothing.

9krpmrx8 03-18-2014 01:44 AM

Yay, more shitty coil overs.

gmoney 03-18-2014 08:33 AM

I've heard nothing but bad things about them so far, maybe thats why they sell their coilovers for $300-$400

I just said they aren't the best track coils............. And all the subaru guys in my area seem to live and die by them along with a lot of gti guys. They have a pretty good rep out here.

I've only ever seen one example of them being bad compared to the Thousands of people who love them.

Says the guy who just bought Powertrix which are equally as shitty.

bose 03-18-2014 09:57 AM

Don't lie, racelands don't have a good rep here, people say they are ok for daily driving and that's it. These same people though have never had anything but stock suspension so take it with a grain of salt.

WhiteKnight52 03-19-2014 12:40 AM

I did buy some for my wifes EP3 to get it nice and slammed since she just wanted a fun DD. Well, less than a year later one blew out so bad that it wore out here tire super quickly. Its sad that the RX-8 is becoming so cheap and riced out at this point. I bought mine for $20,000 almost 2 years ago with only 10,000 miles on an 06.....but now all I see is 100k plus mile cars getting riced out. These so called "coilovers" aren't worth their weight in scrap metal-

Sorry, I know you loathe Powertrix coilovers but they are not down on the same level as Racelands.

Shock dyno doesn't lie, they're not bad for an entry level unit. Yeah they had a bad run of bushings but their customer service handled it very well IMO. I didn't even know about the problem until Charles personally contacted me to inform me of the problem and to offer me free updated replacements. I didn't even have to pay for shipping.

aren't you on stance? seems like just the other day I read a post where you admitted to them being the same product? correct me if I'm wrong

bse50 03-19-2014 02:36 AM

Riceland makes GARBAGE.
Treat your car well: KW, Moton, Ohlins all make decent shocks.
If you can't afford them, buy non adjustable KYB or Koni Yellows.
If you can't afford them, keep the stock ones and enjoy the performance benefit over riceland's product line.

My NA miata is .5 secs a lap faster than an equally stock car with riceland coilovers and better tyres. And that means comparing 22yo blown shocks to "fresh" ricelands.

Yes I am, that is why I started the opinions thread, to let others know what crap they are. Won't be for long though.

AliasTRS 04-15-2014 12:04 AM

Well ladies and gentlemen,
The week is here. This Thursday I am taking my car down to Raceland to have the coils installed and I shall get the car back after work on Friday. We'll see how they work out!
P.S.
I spoke to one of the product design managers about seeing if they could develop a top mount turbo manifold and down pipe for less than the $1400 that other companies want for them. We'll see if that goes anywhere.

hoosier1104 04-15-2014 08:49 AM

I am not on coil overs but if 9k says they are shit then I am going to believe him. I think he knows what he is talking about.

9krpmrx8 04-15-2014 09:09 AM

If all you care about is getting low then I am sure these will accomplish the goal. And for the price I guess these will be sold for then shit is about all you can expect.

pdxhak 04-15-2014 10:24 AM

Riceland a step above cutting your springs

TrickWilliams 04-15-2014 12:17 PM

^^ :rollingla

AliasTRS 04-15-2014 06:27 PM

I personally feel like their product has stepped up in quality within the last few years. especially with their ultima design. but we'll see

Arca_ex 04-15-2014 06:58 PM

Lol no.

Based on what?

9krpmrx8 04-16-2014 12:44 AM

Based on that he is prototyping so he is probably getting them damn cheap or for free,

Stepped up from what? Cut springs as mentioned before? Blown factory shocks?
