Thanks for the pics Hipnotoad - I Got the MazdaSpeed springs & shocks installed at the end of January and was curious about the upper coils touching when the car is on the ground.
I asked if anyone had noise because I was getting a lot of noise from the right rear. Mazda dealership installed, been back 6 times and got a new noise after 4 visits. Currently they switched sides (RR to LR ect.) now I have noises coming from both sides (rear). I don't know what to do & no one at the dealership or the Mazda tech line can figure it out!?!?!?!?! Car is at the dealership again right now!

The noise your hearing is common with the MS springs and shocks. I have it as well as other members on this board that have the same set-up. Just search and you will see that it is very common, I had mine installed last March and was in your shoes all freaked out. I can say that sinc ebeing installed I have put about 20 hours of track time on them with no issues. Don't worry about it

I had the same issue with my MS suspension, also on the passenger rear. There was a TSB for the Mazda 6 which was posted on another thread and I used that to fix the problem. The link to the TSB for the Mazda 6 seems to be gone, but basically I bought this thin rubber sleeve from Mazda which fits around the top and bottom part of the spring and helps to insulate it from the metal-to-metal clunking. Not sure why it was only on the passenger rear, but I used 2 of them to get around the top part of the spring coil since some of the coils touch when the car is on the ground.

^ I agree with devildog. I have had them for a year and a half and I do get some noise from the back, but it has caused me no trouble at all. The only thing to watch out for is make sure the bolts on top of the strut towers are tightened AFTER the springs are compressed (car on the ground). If this isn't done, the drop will be off, but other than this don't worry about anything!

Mazdaspeed shocks are less expensive than Konis. Buy from onlinemazdaparts!
