Is changing sway bars without springs OK?

Hey everyone,

Is there any big disadvantage to installing sway bars (front and rear) and saving shocks/springs for later? I was looking at the Racing Beat package, but I didn't want to spring for everything all at once, unless there's a compelling reason to do so.

There are other folks who did this with good results. I am going to do it this week. Just picked up RB sways from their showroom in Anaheim. Looking for a shop to install. Will post the results.

Just for comparison jds, I put the HKS Hipermax II's in first and played with the ride height and damper adjustments (and alignment) for a long while, finally tuning it towards a performance/comfort balance that worked. Still, was missing extra corner rigidity so I added aftermarket sways (whiteline) and now it's great.

when i lent my 8 to whiteline for the sway bar R&D back in the early days, i had it lowered, but they took the lowered springs off and re-fitted the factory springs for the sway bar R&D.

was driving the first/final prototypes for a while, no problems at all.

there are many 8 owners here in australia doing the same atm

I kept the stock springs, just added Whiteline Sways and Falken tires. No regrets yet although I am thinking about MS coilovers for next year.

Sway bars will maximize the grip of your tires... regardless of your springs/shocks. Shouldn't be a problem to get sways first... go for it.

After driving a few more days and taking familiar turns, I have to say that these are good. Most of the understeer from the stock setup is gone. The balance is very close to neutral.

Add a good set of shocks/springs or coilovers, adjust them properly and the result coupled with aftermarket sways is close to perfection with this car

I have installed a set of GReddy strut bars and noticed nive improvements on cornering; everything else in the suspension is stock.

I have found an under-carriage brace (red) and was wondering if anyone has added this to their suspension set up? Is there any problems running performance sway bars with this frame support?

The Autoexe Member Brace?.....just had it installed today, works great with aftermarket swaybars.
