Blown Shocks???
latley i been wondering if my shocks are blown, i have a set of JIC coilovers on the car, purchased used. not sure how many miles were on there. I put close to 5k myself
originally the car handled sharp as hell, i felt like i was riding on a razors edge while doing the few turns around my area.
lately im taking those turns at much slower speeds because the car doesnt feel to handle as well, i dont feel the car is planted on the road as it once was. pretty sure its not the tires as those are still very new 90% tread left.
the car seem to feel a little more bouncy when driving on rough roads or over speed bumps, like after i hit a bump i get a few extra bounces afterward. Ive driven on blown shocks on other cars and the car is usually sagging alot, is extremely bumpy, usually you can push down on the car and it will squat becasue there is no damper to support the car. I think the reason i cant do this is because the JIC shock is so stiff its basicly supporting the car on its own.
i heard coilovers need to be "rebuilt" which im assuming needs to be taken apart in some way and have parts replaced.
Before i venture off into taking out my suspension setup, can someone tell me or give me any insight as to whether or not my shocks are blown?

Usually if they are blown bad they leak...so look at the seal where the shaft goes into the body of the shock and check if there is oil there...
The JIC's can be rebuilt...send them back to JIC America and they will help you out. Get a RMA # first so they don't loose them

A car won't sag from a blown shock. The shock dampens the movement of the springs. A blown shock will bounce over bumps causing you to lose traction. A very bad one will bounce up and down as you are driving on smooth road. Usually they will just start to go soft with time. It is just an educated guess, but if you have 50K mi. on the car, you may want to consider replacing or rebuilding the shocks.
