All Around Tire for Texas

Hey guys..

I'm based in San Antonio and with the freaky weather here (sometimes hot as hell, sometimes wet as Waterworld) I'm torn on what new tires to get....

Last I recall, the Kumho Ecsta SPT had great reviews around here... These are my current picks.. anyone got any advice or other options?

Kumho Ecsta SPT
Kumho Ecsta ASX
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT

I'm also thinking of going Plus Zero sizing.. 245/40-18 as I have the smigde wider 8.5" rims.. anyone have any tips/advice/opinions/qualms about that?

Thanks in advance..

On 8.5" rims I'd go with 245-40-18

Add RE050A PP to the list to consider.

i love my toyo T1R's in the wet and dry but if that's too much to spend on a set of tires then go with the Kumhos, best tire for the money IMO

RE050A Pole Positions are probably the way to go in that size unless all you want is dry grip in which case I'd take the RE-01R.

Best tire for Texas

I live in Missouri, but I just put a set of Generl Exclaim UHP's on mine and I really like them so far. I only have couple of thousand miles on them, but so far so good. Only $112 on TireRack.

I am on Riken Raptors (BFG) 245/40-18's. Great in the wet (deep highway puddles at 70MPH no problem) and great grip in the heat. I also track my car at least once a month and they have exceeded my expectations. What more can you ask for out of a $130.00 (not what I paid) tire?

I am so glad I did not get the more expensive BFG's. These tires are better than my Toyo Proxes. Sorry if I sound like I'm marketing but I am really impressed and if you do a search you will find several others who have been impressed with this tire as well.

I seriously considered the General UHP's and they had great reviews but i got the tires at cost through a friend and the Rikens were cheaper.
