235/45 or 245/40's Mainly stock
Which to go with all around on my car that will stay mostly stock other than a few possible bolt ons--until the eventual FI???
Probably on stock rims for now...

BTW, I bought my car last friday from Motor car Concepts ion 17-92 in Longwood. Got a decent deal, but the kid I bought it from was terribly unprofessional. Overall, I would not buy from them again, but they had what I was looking for at a reasonable price.
Had I known you were in that area prior to purchase, I would have taken you to lunch so you could give my car a little more of an educated/experienced inspection.

In lieu of OP search, I'll cut & paste:
The most popular alternative tire size on the stock 18" rims is the 245x40. It's a nice mix of wider footprint without sacrificing too much tread wall height and therefore not much stiffer ride than the 225x45's. There are no fitment issues fore or aft at this size.
Many folks like a 35 tread wall height, but you do sacrifice some ride comfort as well as street forgiveness (not as much tread wall to flex). Of course for the track they're superior.
The 245x45 may rub on the fender in a turn, as they are as tall as the stock but wider.
The stock 225x45's are very well balanced for the 8's capabilities. A bit wider looks better but with that extra width of footprint contact altering course will be a bit more pronounced requiring a tad more attention (but aren't we all attentive in a sportscar?).
So, as all these choices, it really comes down to personal preference.

how is that?? i answered the ? the 245/ 40 is almost the same dia as the stock tire and wider..

I had more or less decided on 245/40/18 bridgestone re760 sports, but have been reading more and more about the likely loss of steering response from going up to the 245 width.
...So I am now considering 235/40/18's. I was hoping that the slightly wider (10mm) 235 will offer a little more grip, while not compromising the sharp steering response that help make our cars so fun to drive (in the absence of power).
I have searched some, but have found relatively little amount of info on 235/40's. Are most people just bumping up to the 245's? Why are the 235's so unpopular?

Because 245/40/18 is a better match to the OE outer diameter of the tire than 235/40/18 or 235/45/18.
Also, I have a feeling that 245/40 is a more common size so it is available in a larger range of tires (though this is just a guess).
