Angry Steering wheel controls don't work for audio

So my heating stopped working. I decided to change the hvac unit instead of fixing it. Now the heating works, but the audio controls on the steering wheel dont. Also the little **** to search through radio stations (the left one) only works when the car is off. However, the **** works all the time for AM channels. The cruise control buttons still work fine.

I double checked everything when i put the unit back together and im pretty sure everything is solid.

I did not reinstall the bolt under the steering column (that connects to the audio unit) because it was such a pain in the *** to take out, i didnt want to have to go through that again. Do you think maybe its this bolt that connects the audio to the steering wheel???

No it is not the bolt. Maybe a wire on one connector come loose or you forgot to attach one of the connectors. Recheck all your wiring behind the player.

Honestly I've never used that **** to tune radio stations. In Cleveland we have about 6 FM stations so unless you want to be there all day you have to use seek. Seek is on the steering wheel though via the up and down buttons. If that physical **** does not work though it would make me think that you are having a problem with that side of your faceplate.

Im pretty sure it is part of the main harness that comes into the back of the radio. (ie The really large one)
