Question New (to me) car and new guy.

good-morning everyone, new guy here. recently became the proud owner of a '04 rx8 grand touring AT. Love the car but there are a few things im currently trying to troubleshoot. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. please, point me in the correct direction if i should post this elsewhere. ill just put numbers next to each "issue" im trying to take care of...
1) im having a problem opening one of the cabin lights (the overhead where you can put you sunglasses).. i dont need to change the bulb, its theres a large dead spyder between the lens and bulb on the right side and its not exactly pleasing to have it there.. how would i get it out?
2) i read a manual that says the tire pressure sensor is for 35psi? i have run-flat tires on the car and they're at 50psi (what they need) and of course my tire pressure light is on. is there a way to adjust the sensor so it is for 50psi and the light turns off?
3) theres some water/humidity in my front left headlight i would like to get out, but i dont have the know-how to want to mess with it until i get info from someone who knows the right way to do it.

again, all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ricky

Welcome to the addiction.

I will answer your quiestions in the order you asked them.
1) if you open the sunglasses case the two screws that hold it in will allow you to remove the whole map assembly comes out
2) I have no idea
3)you have a seal issue with the headlight. Remove it and make sure you dry it out completely, when you replace it make sure you get everything on tight and sealed.

1) Dirt Nasty is right here. I've been up there once to install power leads for my radar detector and it SUCKS. There is a lot of force required to get that stupid thing down and no good way to get your fingers on it. Good luck.

2) No, you can't adjust your TPMS to a different psi. Are you sure your TPMS sensors were installed in your wheels with the new tires? If so, you need to take your car to a Mazda Dealership and have the Service Department disable the TPMS light.

3) WOW...you're car really likes the crappy jobs. You will need to remove the headlight assembly which will require the removal of the bumper. Once it is out you will need to find a really dry place to remove the rubber cups and bulbs to let it sit. After it's all dried out and in a non-humid place you will need to reassemble the light and your car. Personally I would do what most people have done with the taillights and VERY CAREFULLY drill a small hole in the fixture to let it breathe so the condensation just goes away. You can crack the lens and stuff by doing this...but it does work.

GOOD LUCK!

thanks to the both of you. ill look to do the headlight job when i have time and same for the cabin light. as for the tire pressure light, screw it then ill just deal with it being on. that way ill know if the pressure in the tires is low because the light will turn off

I found a small flathead screw driver does the trick nicely, there are two clips, one on each side, towards the front. OP look at a picture of it online and you will understand where they are at. Press one of these in and you should be able to easily pry it out.

You want real answers.............

1) im having a problem opening one of the cabin lights (the overhead where you can put you sunglasses).. i dont need to change the bulb, its theres a large dead spyder between the lens and bulb on the right side and its not exactly pleasing to have it there.. how would i get it out?

Use this......don't screw around!
You will be glad you did!
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...light=maplight

2) i read a manual that says the tire pressure sensor is for 35psi? i have run-flat tires on the car and they're at 50psi (what they need) and of course my tire pressure light is on. is there a way to adjust the sensor so it is for 50psi and the light turns off?

No, but the TPMS sensors go off right about 49 psi on the high side and 26 psi on the low side, so if you could stand to lower you pressure below 49, you might see the TPMS light go off. Black tape also works!
Question............I understand that you have run flats, and I don't know if their pressure is supposed to be higher(but I think not!) but what specifically do you have on there(tire make, model, size)????
That pressure is way too high as the recommended is 32 PSI.

3) theres some water/humidity in my front left headlight i would like to get out, but i dont have the know-how to want to mess with it until i get info from someone who knows the right way to do it.

Believe it or not, the easiest way is to probably pull the bumper off(which is super easy once you've done it. This will then allow access to give a look and see what's going on. You could go through the wheel well, but it's easier in my opinion to pull the bumper and headlight assemmbly out. There is a real good video on this and I'll go see if I can find it for you. My guess would be that one of your bulbs is not sitting in the socket right and therefore the seal isn't doing what it should.

Check back on this post for bumper removal and headlight assembly removal video.
Oh, I found them quickly using the advanced search

Not my video and he's over killing it(taking forever), but if you are new to this........it will really help!
Give them a look.

First one is for bumper and then headlight.
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...assembly+video

Second one is mainly about headlight removal.
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...assembly+video

Now you have a couple of choices and there may be more.
1.) Buy a brand new headlights assembly...............major bucks!
2.) Find one for sale on this site from someone parting out a car.
3.) Take all the bulbs out of yours, use some cleaning solution(made for this purpose) pour it in there, swish it around, drain it and let it dry out. If you attempt to use a hair dryer....be careful not to heat it up to much. Then try and detrmine why it was leaking....crack, bad seal, etc?
4.) Junk yard?

ALSO, i need a fuse box diagram to know which fuse is for my wipers, the dial to turn on the wipers isnt working but when i pull back the control arm to clean the windshield the wipers function. if the fuse isnt the problem, what could be?

i guess just give me input about your opinions if the tire is a good tire, i manages to fix the problem by doing what someone recommended and i lowered the pressure to 40 psi and the light went away
about the wipers, forget that lol user error on my part, and i found the diagrams inside the panels of the boxes. (when i got the car the guy didnt have the owners manual with the car so im learning as i go)

40 psi?? That's way too high - it'll handle like a skateboard. 28 - 32 psi is much more like it. USA versions anyway have this posted on the inside of the door frame. Get an owner's manual (or find one posted online), there's a lot of "unusual" stuff about the RX-8 that you need to read about.

lower your tire pressure to 28psi and you will be much better off. Even on run flats it should never be at 50psi. Now I am not sure where you live, if its really far up north where your tires wont heat up as hot as ours do in the winters of texas you might try 30 psi.

Go to www.mazdausa.com , then go under the owners section and down to "manuals and references". The select your year and model!
Easy as oie! Then you will have a manual.
I would also go back under owners and register(it's free). It will ask for your VIN, but it's good to have it in there and then the site will tell you all kinds of stuff about your car and more info! Will also give you a place to record service history!

FYI.................if you don't have run flat tires..............which I really didn't know about anyway, then look on the sticker on your drivers side door(when open) and it will tell you the recommended pressure to run. That's gonna say 32 psi. I usually run somewhere between 32 and 34psi.............as most of us do!

In terms of the humidity in the headlight......it was the headlight right? Many have issues with the tail lights, but not the headlights.
If it is the headlight, then it's gonna come back, so you need to try and figure out how it's getting in there. It's going to be bad for it long term if you don't find it and fix it!
If it happens to be the tail light, there are many threads on how to deal with that.

Doc....recommended is 32 PSI.
28 would be a little low..........and if TPMS, it will go off on the low side at 26 psi as I said quite a few posts ago.

28 is ok on a cold tire, if its a tire thats already warmed up then I would go with 31 or 32 psi. Your going to increase the pressure once the tires warmed up and be just fine. I prefer them a little stickier but then again if your not worried about that and after fuel mileage then you can use 32 when its a cold tire reading and get around 35 to 36psi once the tires warmed up.
