Slight loss of power as engine warms up
Sorry if this is an easy one. I have looked for while but cannot find any threads that seem to explain what I am experiencing. If the engine is cold or has not been running for 30 minutes or so I seem to feel more torque when I initially start driving the car after starting it. 5 minutes after starting the car and continually driving it there seems to be a slight decrease in torque. I was not sure if this was just me personally adjusting to the power as I drive it or the car changing in some way to cause this. I have had my car for a year and don't remember when I started noticing this. I have a 2006 GT with about 9K miles on it now and use 93 octane gas.

I had the same issue yesterday. About 82 out and humid. Car was running for about 7 minutes and has a less torque(y) feel to it. Then a few minutes later it was back to its normal power. I know the car does not let you rev high when cold but this is a bit odd. Maybe just a fluke?

I'm not sure if the weather is a factor or not. I will start paying more attention to the temperature and humidity. I have noticed that it seems to have the most torque when I start it first thing in the morning.

I live in Houston. It was 82 and humid yesterday and I noticed less torque also. Cold front came last night, it was 52 and dry and she ran like a champ this morning. Looks like it might be a long summer....

This has helped me when I had your problem. This helps by putting cooler air in your engine. It only takes a minute to do. Let us know if it helps.

I know what it is now (DSC) but not sure why.
I did try your suggestion Old rotor (throttle body coolant bypass) but it did not seem to help. I gave it some time just to make sure but still saw very little if any change. No Dominion I have not changed the audio at all.
There is one little thing I must confess that I did change though. I did not think to mention it because it has become habit for me. I have been turning off the DSC. Every time I get in the car I would press the button once to turn it off. I did not hold the button down for longer than a second or so. I noticed after I first bought the car that when I did this the MPG improved by 1 or 2 MPG so I just kept doing it. I decided to try leaving the DSC on the past few weeks and now the power seems to be consistently good all of the time. I'm slightly confused by this behavior though. To me it makes sense if turning off the DSC may increase the MPG but why would it decrease the power? Do any of you guys mess with the DSC at all.

I just got my car back from the dealer yesterday...was having issues on high heat days with absoulte loss of engine power. I had a hard time accelerating the car after stopping at red lights. Turns out spark plugs were shot but the dealer also did a comp. test and found that I was borderline failing. After keeping my car for the weekend and a call to the mazda tech line they replaced the spark plugs and decarbeurized the engine and intake. Car runs beautiful now but I wish they would have given me more compression numbers and at least did a follow up comp. test to make sure the engine and intake cleaning fixed the problem.

Hoping to bring this thread back to life. The Same issue seems to have returned for me. Since I last posted I have had the famous coil failure issue and replaced my stock coils with the BHR coil upgrade kit. I have not done anything else to the car. I'm not sure exactly when the performance issue started since I last posted and I do notice now that some days the power may take longer to decrease then on other days. I was begining to think it was my imagination and that while the RPMs where higher due to the choke being on i was accelerating more quickly because when i stepped on the gas i was going to higher RPMs then i would after the choke turned off. I am wondering now if my issue has something to do with the engine temperature since that is the only consistent thing I can think of. Any ideas?
