The easiest solution for me right now is replacing the gearbox oil.

I was trying to explain that when the engine is under load is when the slight scratch will occur in only second gear. so revving up and gearing up under heavy rpms with a quick shift......if I rev to 9k in first gear and go to shift into second normally it will grind, but when i push in the clutch and put it in neutral and wait a second before putting into second or like mentioned above, double clutching it doesnt scratch....

now the reason i brought up the engine mount is because i came across this video recently......

Thanks for posting it here. I'm gonna give it a try instead of replacing my transmission.

(BTW, '04 sport, 130k, original tranny, no other issues besides second grind and I flog the hell outta my '8. I also maintain it meticulously.)
