Angry Another 8 With Damned Shifting Issues

The current issue at hand:
shifting from 3rd -> 4th @ 9k, ever since I've had the car, it's been an issue, I have pretty much had to yank the shifter into 4th each time. Tonight, it just doesn't seem to want to shift to 4th period at 9k, until I back down the rpm's to ~8.5k. Otherwise at lower rpm's, 3rd to 4th is as smooth as it should be

I've always had a little grinding too going into 5th at anything >55mph too

Is it the clutch line? Is it needing new tranny fluid? Is it the tranny itself? I've seen people noting problems going from 1st to 2nd but I do not have that issue myself. Any insight from someone who has experienced this happen to them? If it helps, my 8 is an '04 model with ~87k miles on it, vast majority of those miles being highway miles on cruise control

Your syncromesh is gone is what it seems to me after reading your description.

Arg...I'm not liking what I'm seeing about issues with synchromesh
I'll just see about replacing the tranny fluid for now, if the problem continues, taking it to a tranny shop...taking apart transmissions is well beyond my capabilities of car repairs

How long has it been since tranny fluids where changed or how many miles?...

Renewing the oils has to help...

Clean off the Magnetic Drain Plug too and see all the metal particles....

When I did my 09 at about 1800 miles the oil had many "sparkly" bits of metal shinning in the Sun.

^ Scott,
Doesn't the clutch Pedal Face slowly move closer to the Brake Pedal Face when it's on the way out...

In other words the Gap between the two pedals narrow to the point of almost touching before the C Pedal breaks.

cant say for sure.

as some how i made it to 105k miles with out the issue. have backup now..

but the symptoms are there. the other is a very obscure tsb about the clutch slave.

from what i have read the pedal failure is slow..

btw, the 09 pump ? i asked about gets more funny by the moment!

Yeah, I think (from memory) the Clutch Slave cylinder one was about a change in production to the type of Assembly Grease used, I think the earlier type was causing the slave plunger to stick??

What is the FUNNY about the FP?

the slave clinder in the early models had an odd chemical in the mix. it would make the pedal go hard.. the tsb is out there.. it was an internal issue..

the fp.. well lets say i know how to try to test a 09 pump..

well i smell like fuel. but not from the test..

i know how to spin up the 09 pump!
