I do not see in my recall letter where they agree to give me gas or car wash. Where do you all find it?

Don't forget to mention that you use synthetic oil! What problems?

Engine replacement complete.

I called my service rep at about 2pm yesterday and asked the service rep how things were going. He told me that stuff was going good and they were re running the test with the new engine in. When I asked about gas and car wash he said he wasn't aware of those benefits and that they couldn't provide a car wash because they did not have the facilities.

Called back 2 hours later to let me know the car was ready and it was washed n topped off. Warranty department read the fine print at the bottom of the letter.

First Impressions: I missed my car, so its biased. Feels like it has more power but i'm not cranking over 4k (except for one stretch before home ) for the next 450mi. With the A/C on it felt smooth, not a rough idle at all. And damn she wanted to go fast. When I got home, a chirp/squeeking was noticed as the engine idled. Can't tell where from, but seems like somewhere infront of the dipstick. That better be temporary...

Downside: In the morning rush an hour ago, the rough idle with the A/C on came back after a 20 minute drive. WTF!?!?!

Could i need a post install reflash? I cant gaurantee that they did it when the recall was performed. The paperwork from the actual engine swap is downstairs, i'll check it out on break. Any suggestions?

All 2004 and 2005, Some 2006

Most of them requires only a reflash.

they might have done it before, or after, but if they did it before do they need to do it after?

The only issue that my service advisor brought up after the test was that I needed the upgraded spark plugs which were not in stock so I have to go back.

My invoice did not indicate if I received the latest flash for the OMP so I'll have to ask them when I return for the plugs. I did receive the extended powertrain warranty.
I came back for the plugs and after I got my car back I could tell right away that it excellarated much smoother. The stock exhaust sounded slightly higher in pitch and there was no hestitation in throttle response between 7K to redline as I experienced before the recall. I had a very positive experience with my dealer!

OK, just got an email from my dealer on my car, part of this is Recall and the other is “Marbles in a Blender” so I’m posting it in both places.

Mike just finished up. He was able to just reprogram the PCM and replace
the spark plugs. He inspected the converter as part of the recall, and
ratio was 19:1. As far as the noise, Mike test drove another RX-8 and also
called technical services (reference #477257) and found that this noise is
normal, as this is the noise from the coolant pipes to heater core. You may
pick up your vehicle and return the loaner up until 8:30 this evening.

After the engine warming up, you come to a stoplight with the a/c on (almost any speed) and the needle will peg 1k RPMs, then drop down to right above the first notch with the entire cabin reverberating, then bump up after a few seconds, then repeat. Turn off the A/C and everything smooths out, but not 100%. Still happens rarely. Sucks that i have to turn off my A/C in stop/go traffic just to not puree my brain. new engine and the same old problem
wtf.

The rep said he noticed it too, but requested that i wait until the 500mile mark before bringing back to make sure that the car settles in and the pcu adjusts. Honestly i wanna take it in and get it reflashed just to make sure.

did they put the recall sticker on? IF not, go to another dealership and just play dumb! haha.

Hmm, I only asked because my cabin has a tendency to shake a bit when I'm sitting at stop lights and I can tell it's because the A/C is on! If I turn it off, it goes away (mostly). I'll have to watch the Tach closer to see where mine is moving to. I feel your pain bro.

Just dropped off my car at 8am this morning at Fitzgerald Mazda here in Annapolis, and they were done by around 5pm. They reprogrammed the PCM and replaced the spark plugs. They inspected the convertor, and it was okay. Gas topped off and car washed. They gave me a Mustang convertible for the day, so I can't complain.

So far no problems, if anything it feels better, but I haven't driven enough to know for sure.

Better than me, no gas and I had a Camry for the day and they sort of washed it.

I dropped my car off Monday morning at 9 am at Gullo Mazda in Conroe, Tx. They gave me a rental, a Pontiac Vibe. Boy, what a yawner! It absolutely has the worst positioned AC vents I have ever seen. Both vents on the driver's side blow right in your face and can't really be re-positioned, leaving your lower body sweaty and sticky. Mind you, the temps here in Texas have cooled off a little in the last week or so, I can't imagine driving that thing around in August.

As much as some complain about the RX 8, after driving that Vibe for a day, I won't forget how good a car the RX 8 is.

No new engine for me, just a recalibration and new plugs. They topped off my tank, which I brought in on "E" , and ran the car through the automated car wash. Didn't dry it off though, leaving water spots on the trunk and back bumper.

I've been to Great Neck Mazda for like 4 times I think ? I got a loaner 3 times and 1 with Rental.

First time, Brand New Mazda 6i (kinda sucky, slow crap, base model)
Second time, Rental, Chevy Forgot what was the name, some AWD SUV ? Suck **** I was afraid to go fast on that crap, anything over 60mph .....
Thrid time, Tribute, Suck *** (Base model I guess)
4th Time, MPV. Not so bad, but interior kinda suck.

made another appointment for the Condensation , and will ask them to flash my PCM once again. I dont have the recall letter yet but Im pretty sure they know about the recall already. Might as well ask them for the *funny* transmission feel.

Just got my car back from Bob King Mazda here in Winston Salem.

1. Gave me a rental through Enterprise (07 Buick Lucerne, move over bluehairs)
2. Engine & cat are great for 33.5k miles. The cat had a reading of 0.91:1, the computer reported 10 missfires over the course of 10 driving cycles, which they said was extremely good. We have lots of humidity here, so I think that helps the lubing of the engine in my case.
3. New leading plugs, and I paid for trailing plugs to be replaced as well since it was getting time to change them anyways.
4. Had problems with my temperature control for my A/C, they replaced that whole assembly as well.
5. I had a full tank of gas given per the recall as well. I advised them not to wash or clean the car, which they did as I said.
6. Also was informed that the car would use more oil that before, per recall.

All and all this is a very good dealer and they have taken care of me properly. Also, nice to know I have a very healthy rotary engine.
