radiator light, not missing fluid
radiator light, not missing fluid
Hey,
A couple weeks ago my radiator light popped on, then about a mile down the road went off. I checked the radiator fluid level and it was full
Now it happens every time I am out. I keep checking but nothing seems amiss. About a week ago I noticed a slight hesitation when going full throttle. Can anyone help me figure this out?? I have a 05' GT, 6-speed, new engine last year and new plugs and wires about 2 months ago. I redline it daily.
Before anyone tells me to search....I did. Nothing came up

That's normal. It happened to mine when i drove past 60 mph and it went off when i slowed down below 60 mph. Just make sure your coolant is not leaking or not losing any coolant whatsoever.

There is a service bulletin on this, posted somewhere on this site. I just tried looking for it at finishlineperformance.com, but it's not up there. (Try searching here for something like "coolant bottle.") The fix is to replace the coolant bottle. Or to pull the plug out of the sensor and just visually inspect coolant level every now and then.

It's not the sensor that fails, it's the float. It's absorbing coolant and losing bouyancy. If you have an '05 or earlier, your replacement coolant bottle comes with a new sensor. If it's '06 or later, you re-use the sensor (which isn't bad).
The relevant TSB is no. 01-040/10
Ask me how I know, lol.

You can replace the bottle to fix it...or check your coolant level more often
