so heres the lowdown on the situation:
i was nearing the time for an oil change, checked the dip and it indeed could use some oil. so i added two quarts. the first one i pored slowly, the second i neglected and pored it faster than the first, next thing i know i got white smoke coming out aof my exhaust and oil in my air intake. i researched it on here and saw its a common problem for an 04 MT that if you overfill/fill too fast you will get the oil in the intake. ive added oil before without issue, this is the first time it endedup in the intake. i have a little in the air filter as well. so today i took the whole air assembly out, wiped out the accordian, wiped down the valve behind the accordian (SSV?) and both the screens and cleaned the MAF with CRC MAF Cleaner. oil was pooled below the air intake assembly and i cleaned that off too. so just as i feel as though its all cleaned (minus the air filter itself) i took it out for a test drive. i let the engine warm up, and took it for a test drive. it seems to get a rougher feel when downshifting/decelerating, as well as powerloss over the 7K mark. i am trying to figure out if it is caused from the MAF needing to recalibrate itself over the next 100 miles or so, it i just need to replace the air filter (which is going to happen soon regardless), or oil/carbon buildup in the CAT or a combination of the three. its an 04 MT with only 14000 miles, thats right, 14000, not one hundred fourty thousand, fourteen thousand. this car has been absolutely flawless up until this over oiled fiasco. i have done research on here but havent found any answers to this specific issue. any/all insight and advice would be welcome, though i feel ive done just about all i can beyond changing the air filter.

 

behind accordian?

2 quarts? seriously? you do know that on the dip stick, between the low mark and full mark is LESS THAN 2 QUARTS, right ?

I would say You overfilled WAY too much and you will keep seeing oil in intake until you drain it out.

you filled ur oil with a funnel right?

 

in the accordian along with the intake manifold/housing. from the accordian there is another part i believe is called the SSV? that i heard could get stuck if oil gets to it and builds up carbon. that was the first time ive ever added two quarts inthe same instance and yes, i used a funnel. apparenlty the funnel wasnt "long enough" to pass the hose that goes into the accordian/i filled it too quick/i couldve overfilled

 

I would say you overfilled it.

you mean you cleaned the throttle body.

the SSV is located at the Upper intake Manifold(or should I say lower?) you need to remove a lot of **** to have a clean access to it.

always fill your oil slowly, and try do it 1/2 a quart at a time, check level after 5 minutes, then repeat if necessary

 

yea thats what it was, got the two confused. so i guess ill just wait til the rest of the oil burns itself away and hope i get my power back

 

Uh or you could just check your oil level and drain some out to make it right... It's not rocket science..

if draining some of the oil out is all i need to do to fix this problem then thatd be grand. i just got a CEL 0302 (misfire) but i would assume it is misfiring from the excessive oil in the engine.

 

That is very probable..

 

stop driving it around and go get a proper oil change. Now that you have been driving it around still over filled you are going to have to RE-clean the intake and throttle body.

like "nycgps" said, fill it slowly, and half quart at a time.

I've had my car for years and have NEVER had to add 2 quarts at one time. You might be leaking oil, or you could be waiting a really long time between fill ups... i don't know, but 2 quarts seems like a ridiculous amount. How often are you doing oil changes?

 

Excessive oil in your intake will definitely foul stuff up. I had the main seal blow on my turbo once... dumped 4 quarts into my plumbing in all of a minute. Made my sea foam smoke look like nothing.

Ended up having to get my UIM and SSV cleaned out afterwards. Was not fun.

 

I always check the oil every second fill up,better to be safe than sorry
