Question Oil frothing on dipstick

Shut engine off, wait a few minutes and pull out the dipstick. Froth on the stick is so bad I can't tell oil level. Can't even guess oil level. Pain in the *** on a long trip. Wait an hour or so and it's fine. Wait till the morning and there is condensation on the stick. It doesn't matter if the level is down a bit or right at the mark.
It's done this from new and it now has 28,000 km on it. Dealer says this is normal but can't explain why.
Doesn't seem normal to me. Any other 8's have this condition?

Quite a few threads on this. They say it is normal but now have a fix out for it. You are just noticing it now with that many miles?

Mazda has a new insulated dipstick available for those with "froth".
It's here in the TSB list. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ins_index.html

Got mine installed yesterday - there is quite a wait for the parts to be manufactured and shipped from CA.........
So far, so good, no more guessing games....

I noticed it immediately but was told it would go away after break in. They didn't tell me about any specific problems or TSB's.
Thanks, much appreciated.

It won't go away after break in. The only way to get rid of it is to completely get the engine hot enough to burn the condensation off. A few threads up^ there is a sticky I believe that has alot of good info in it.

Fax the TSB to your service manager and have him order the parts. Tell him to call you when the come in and save yourself a trip to the dealer!
