Spirograph

Last night when I pulled into the garage and got out of my car, I heard a weird noise; it seemed to be coming from somewhere around the catback. It was like the sound of a small electric motor spinning for about a minute, then it stopped and there was a sound like a pneumatic release of air. Is this normal?
