Unhappy new tranny issue

ok so bout october last year i had my transmission rebuilt via mazda warantee. i had them fill it with Lubro-Moly 75w-90 synth gear oil. now lately when the tranny gets hott it has a tendancy to grind from 2nd to 3rd from 8k up. and now just this past couple days its a really quick grind when i rev match down to 2nd (with use of clutch) now i know my clutch is wearing bout but i don;t see how that could cause it. i'm wondering if it is a heat issue or what. its really getting old with this car. its always SOMETHING fuckign up. also i'm not running any cat and if i sit at idle for a good bit it relly grinds alot goin into 3rd. i'm thinking of draining gear oil and replacing with redline mtl, and lucas, and heatwrapping around exhaust near the tranny. do you think that will help.

also would any other tranny work in our car? like the fd or fc tranny?

Before going to the extremes of tranny swaps or rebuilds, I would replace the clutch, if you suspect wear. A worn clutch will prevent it from performing its function and put more strains on the tranny. My 2cents.

Since your problems seem to be happening when hot, I'd try the Redline MT-90. A bit heavier. Some people report that a mixture of MTL and MT-90 is the best. Ymmv.

they can't deny your transmission warranty because of your intake and exhaust, they are not at all related.

I'd recommend MT-90 at a minimum, or Redline Shockproof Heavy for maximum durability, MTL is only a 75W80 and may sacrifice long term durability, my last one broke using it so I went to a heavier fluid (75W140NS at first, now Shockproof Heavy)

a clutch going bad can be the cause of grinding, you might try bleeding the clutch hydraulic circuit and make sure the clutch pedal is adjusted to spec per the service manual

but at the expense of durability, since the Heavy matches the OEM fluid viscosity I prefer to have max durability, on my 3rd trans and less than 5000 miles ...

have any of you had this problem....

I have taking it to the dealership and they said they didn't hear the noise. I should of checked out another RX8 to see if it made the same noise or something. Instead I am asking you guys.

When I go about 7,500 or so, what seems to be my transmittion, sounds like it has little bits of metal in it spinning around or something. Like kernals in a popcorn popper or something to that affect. It last till redline. Free rev or under load the sound is made.

If people hear the same sound, let me know. Otherwise take a shot at what could be wrong. I think there is teeth missing of my gears or some sort of metal. Makes me kinda mad that the dealership said they couldn't hear it because it isn't quite.

shinka-05, are you sure that isn't the final stage of the Sdais system? (sequential air intake...) It opens up about then and has a distinctive sound....

just a thought.

I don't think so... cuz it sounds like its more from underneath the car. Also, I forgot to mention, that I am having the same "sticky" shifting going from 1st to 2nd up-shifting, and when down-shifting from 3rd to 2nd.

I am taking it in, technically, today/morning so we will see what happens.

may I ask what your problems of the first 2 were? If I am not mistaken didn't you have problems with the smell in your car as well?
