New with OMP problem

I own a 2004 rx8, it had a new engine put in under warranty and it was 10 miles from the dealership and got a check engine light, car goes into limp mode, barely wants to accelerate. We have it towed back to the dealer and they say its a code for a faulty OMP and it is not covered under warranty. They want $2000 to replace it and I don't have that of money right now.

I was wondering if anyone in Arizona could look at the vehicle when we tow it home? I will pay cash for your time. Also I tried messaging MazdaManiac but his inbox was full. I'm in Ahwatukee.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Umm, maybe a Moderator can change the title to:

New with a don't know how to Search problem.

You likely need to adjust the OMP switch position. Search and learn, Grasshopper.

Check the plugs on the pump....and if that doesn't work try moving the positioning switch on the OMP very slightly. ( 2 small screws...and move it a bit and re-try

If it worked before the engine swap and didn't after I would also make them fix it....there is nothing that would have suddenly made the pump fail

Not trying to step on any toes here. I already looked at the OMP adjustment thread mazdamaniac had posted. I don't have the time or knowledge to start digging into this car. I am looking to pay for help to check this out and see if its worth spending 1000+ dollars on something that may just need a switch adjusted.

So is this:

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Force a man to learn how to fish and if he gets off his butt and makes the effort he eats for a lifetime ...

That is basically what you did when you went to the dealer.... And you didn't like the answer.

You either have to buck up and pay them the money they want...or DIY and solve the problem.........or keep looking around till you find someone to fix it cheap for you who may or may not know what they are doing.

I think TEam is trying to get you to see that there is no free ride!
