I had the same issue. And I changed the battery, plugs, coils, cables, starter, cleaned MAF, air filter, etc... to no avail.

In the end it was low compression and a new engine, which is being replaced as we speak.

Save yourself some headaches and time and go straight for a compression test.

If it isnt that, at least you'll know and it'll be out of the way.

That I had last year.

Sounds like a fuel pump.

When it dies, does it just keep going down in RPM even as you press the gas pedal?

Once it dies, the fuel pump cools down and after 15-20mins usually you can restart it.

Search for fuel pump failure on the forum, and try to diagnose it. If it is that, just replace it with a Walbro for 100-125$, its pretty easy.

It could take 2mins, or 30mins. Depends on how far gone your fuel pump is.

You might also consider taking your fuel pump out and cleaning the sock in there. Depending how long its been since it was last done it could be filthy. If your at 80k miles on the original fuel pump you may as well just replace it and see if it helps, it certainly cant hurt.

Any update?..I do have same problem...It's happened 3x now but this time I feel like it lost a little bit power and it back to normal after driving around 10km..
Plus the water pump is leaking but it's minimal because the coolant level still above minimum. Could it be the cause?

Sorry for thread jacking..

I've searched and it seems like its a faulty fuel pump.. I've ordered a Walbro 255 fuel pump today and hopefully by nxtweek it will be installed..
