Navigation swap?

8Club,

Can someone please let me know if a 2004 Navigation system can be swapped into a 2006 non navigation?

I have a 2004 navigation rx8 dash with everything attached, but wanted to purchase a 2006 without navigation since they are almost impossible to find in my local vicinity.

I have searched and found that a 2004 with Navi dash can swap into a 2004 without Navi but obviously if I can do it with a 2006, that would be better.

Thanks again everyone

I do not know this for a fact, but I would say the simple answer is yes. However this will not be a simple undertaking. I personally would not attempt it, but I guess it just depends on how bad you want the stock system, which IMO is not all that great. Better bet would be to get one of those that is integrated into the stereo. Not expensive and much easier to install. I have one and find that I do not even use it much, my phone turns out to be better. When I bought the car I wanted it loaded, so there it was.

I bought the most expensive garmin I could find. It's ok, I miss the factory GPS with controls right next to the shifter and searching by zip code first and norrowing down the results.

The Garmin is kinda anoying or maybe I haven't used all it's features. First off, voice command is useless for anything other than simple places like jack in the box or something. I noticed my sisters free map app on her iPhone worked better for voice and this cost me $400. I guess that's not it's strong point. The only thing I like about the Garmin is the the voice command pronounces street names as apposed to just saying turn left now.
