Found this thread to be an interesting read. When i get enough free time i think im going to take the upper intake manifold off since its not difficult to do. Im going to check the vac hoses going to the solenoids and see if and check the connectors.

Well after i changed the fuel pump on my car and it didn't help. I went to a muffler guy who cut out my Cat for $130.

Whole thing was bare empty nothing but dust. Though a nice big chunk of the cat material was stuck in the pipe going to the muffler.

Clogging the exhaust fumes chocking the engine and giving me hell for a month.

If anything check to see if you still have warranty on the catalytic converter (80k miles) and change it asap. Otherwise buy a good cat cause anything cheap wont last long.. or gut the current one if you have the ***** and your state doesn't check for emissions.

I may take the cat down and check it out when I have free time and access to a lift at work. I guess it would be a good place to start

Well i have a ticking coming from the engine bay. I took out my mechanics stethoscope and traced the noise to the lower intake manifold. I placed it also right on the engine block itself and heard almost nothing. So my question is, will the ssv chatter at idle ONLY when its warm? If not, what else could it be in the lower intake manifold? Im thinking i may have found the reason for my power loss after driving for a while when its warm out.
