I just had a new engine installed (warranty) in my 2004, and when I got it home, there is a persistent leak coming off the bottom of the transmission (appears to be water or water/coolant mix?). Coming off about a good sized drop every second for the last 45 minutes. I traced the drip back to a hose that appears to have been crimped or cut coming out of the firewall above the transmission housing pointing towards the engine block. Did the tech just not replace a hose? I can't find a hose that matches that location in the online shop manual. It just sticks out an inch or so before pinching off and ending in a flat mouth (although the leak appears to be coming from the base.

Any ideas on what this hose is? (can't get a camera in there for a picture, as it's pretty crowded back there)

 

Sounds a bit like the heater core or AC lines? If it's a water/coolant mix, then it's the heater core line. If they cut/blocked that line, then you shouldn't have any heat any more, and without the circulation through that line it's begging to get clogged. If you can confirm that, take it back to the dealer and have them explain why....

So it's intended to be open? It's a crapload of fluid coming out...

like mentioned already, its the drain for the a/c evap core/ heater core. The more you run your a/c the more condensation it creates, which in turn will "leak" more water. Every car has a drain so the condensation has somewhere to go.
