Just bought my 8, couple of probs

I just bought my 8 last Sat, and noticed a couple things. One is the white crap on the dip stick, figured that one out my self (but scared the crap out of me lol). Second is that the thing viabrates pretty bad for the first couple of miles then stops and drives fine the rest of the drive (didn't to it on all the test drives, but this is the first early morning I have driven it and it's cold in the morn, so... maybe has something to do w/ it???) That's about it for probs so far, which is good

I read about the flashes (M, L and what not), I have no cluse weather the previous owner did this or not, but if he didn't, will this cost any $$$?

I think thats about it. Over all, I really like the car.

info would be nice if needed hehe:
2004
6-speed
no mods
.....think that's all that matters in this case.

Milky dipstick is common. It's condensation. Explained here

Here's the fix.

The white crap is only an issue for me if the car is not warmed up, otherwise, the heat from the engine should cause it to break down and it will just be normal oil. You say that the entire car is vibrating? How severely? That hasn't been an issue with me.

Vibration could be the left hand motor mount

I think you're fine. white stuff on dipstick is condensation. vibration, well, seems like it needs to warm up? As for flashes... i forgot how to tell what flashes you have, something about a code under the hood. Or just ask the dealer.

Yeah, I read up on the white stuff and made me feel better.

I first felt the vibrating yesterday morning (like I said, first early morning drive so it was cold, like in the 30's), I started heading down Route 1 and the car was vibriting (realy fast small vibrations, seems like it is something w/ the wheels maybe), then it stopped about 1 mile or so later, kinda just slowly faded out. I have not one clue what it could be, but it's not cool.

Yup - check the inflation, but they can flat-spot sitting in the cold. It will go away when the tires come up to temp.

Check to make sure your lug nuts are on tight. A buddy of mine had that problem years ago. He figured out what it was when his wheel fell off.

Does the car vibrate a little when idling?
If it does than its a bad motor mount. Had that problem at around 25k miles and the dealer replaced it no problem.

No vibration while idling, just realy when I get going, and it stops about a mile later, it realy sounds like "cold tires". But I have never felt it before in any of my other cars, I'm guessing it's because the size of these tire....

Thanks for all the help guys, a good bit of helpfull info can realy put a mans mind at ease when it comes to his car.

Like Snap-on says, cold tires. When the car sits for awhile, the tires become slightly out-of-round. When they warm up they go back to their original shape. Not a problem.

I bought my new used RX-8 on Sunday! It's got a couple of small issues, but I didn't notice this first one until after my 200 mile trip home...

My steering seems a little loose. It's immediatly responsive if I give it some serious input, but when going straight it seems looser than my old base model did. Is this the DSC kicking in?

I've also got some rattles and a bit of vibration at idle. My last one had it before I put on the RB intake and exhaust so I just chocked it up to a rough idle not a problem with the mounts. I'm installing those this weekend on the new one, if it doesn't go away then I'm definitely taking it in.
