Took the car in today, got it checked out. The Tech drove it and noticed the problems that I have been having. He pulled up the misfires and I had over 1900. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have already replaced all the coils.

He did a vacuum test and he condemned the motor after a call to Mazda. Looks like I'll be driving the 6 they loaned me for a week and a half.

It is very common to read for power loss and stalling and after having replaced coils , plugs or any other peripheral , the outcome is low compression !

So I suggest to everybody that has power problems or stalling and hard to start after the car is hot or have done several miles, to do FIRST OF ALL one thing: THIS IS CALLED COMPRESSION TESTING !


Here in Greece it costs 50 euros and takes less than 30 minutes. It is a simple process in order to see the condition of your motor without replacing , testing and speculating what is wrong with the car !!!!!

So do a compression test and if the compression is ok,,,,you continue searching for coils, plugs, cat etc.

The Tech just told me that the 1900 misfires was really too high to be compression, I'll test it after I get the motor broken in. The reason I replaced the coils in the first place is because the service manager said this is one of the things to jump through Mazda's loops...because replacing engine is expensive.

i can't remember if the lady told me loss of power or too much power. she wants me to put the factory intake back so they can do the loss of power test. is she crazy? i love my injen intake! i had my cat replaced before so it shouldn't be the cat. my problem was the CEL p0442 and p0456 not my power.

Loss of power means you can't accelerate hardly at all. The intake doesn't make a noticeable power increase so it shouldn't matter. Check the cel

Great news, I just got a call from Mazda this morning saying my car could possibly be done tonight and I could pick it up tomorrow afternoon! That would be exactly 7 days to call MazdaUSA to get the engine to me picking it up. Amazing!
