I'm not sure exactly. I know a fuel pump can cause power loss. I haven't heard of the rx8 having many injector issues. But I suppose its a possibility. I know you can buy the primary and secondary sets for a whole lot less if you can install them yourself. I'd get a second opinion.

Can you post a link to where you bought the sock for the fuel pump?

Mine is starting to die again and I want to go ahead and replace the sock.

Unless the autozone fuelpump assembly comes with a new sock... Anyone know?

My plans are to buy the new fuel pump / filter assembly from autozone (So I can change the stupid filter), replace the sock if it does not come with one and throw a Walbro pump in, as I don't really want to trust a autozone fuel pump.

What I did is I went to auto zone and went behind the counter and looked through boxes of socks until I found one that fit. Part number is airtex FS40

For my fuel pump I used brand new OEM Mazda for $50.

, I started throwing code p0661 for the secondary shutter valve and I haven't replaced the solenoid. Not sure they are related but it's a very significant stop in rpms. When it does occour around 5k I wonder if it's ever gonna get over it but when I keep on pushing on the accelerater it does make its way to the top. It just takes about a second and a half to got from 5k-6k when it should only take half of a second
