I'm seeing that. Aside from a turbo, there's really not much for me to do performance wise. I'm trying to find a set of wires, I've read magnecor over and over again, but are they really worth the price over a set of NGK?

Well I will have to get my measurements again and check that site out tonight and see if I can find one better than the WIX I found.

I've been looking for a boost in performance for the past year since I bought my 8...the ONLY real performance boost I've seen is a turbo. IMO it's not really worth the price/performance increase. Want to make it fast, should have bought a faster car.

They last longer, but it's approximately the same cost per unit of time as the lower ones, so it's really just what your preference is in frequency of replacement. There is an available ignition upgrade from BHR which stabilizes the ignition quite a bit and the coils won't fail every 30k like OEM, and those need the better wires (but then, they come with the kit). Ignition coils is another point of consumer concession from Mazda. The first RX-7s had $200 ignition coils (x4), but they lasted 200k+. We get $25 coils that last 30k because too many people complained at the cost of replacement.

First thing? Remove the cat. Buy an AccessPORT and get the ECU tuned.

Nothing else gives power of any measurable amounts until you start going for engine rebuild and/or forced induction.

Nothing is cheap. Even those first two will run you $1,000 for the pair, and only net you ~10-15hp.

It's either a scam or it's sarcasm. There is no chip that does anything but sit there or fry your ECU.

Thanks RiWWp, I'll be getting the $30 NGK wires then. Have NGK plugs, why not, right? I saw that ignition kit on BHR.. I'd love to get that next time I need a full tune up.

Basing your opinion on misinformed magazines doesn't make it accurate.

At no time has Mazda referred to a potential new model as an RX or Speed 6. The Shinari design language used a wheel base and general chassis design as a midsize sedan, which would be comparable to a Mazda6. However it was never intended to "be a 6", as it was just a rolling platform to show off the visual look of where Mazda cars are going. All RX designation discussion has been between a 7, 8, or 9. Mazda has confirmed there is no more 8, and the Chief Designer has publicly asked Mazda to let him begin design work on the next 7, which means there isn't a 7 in the works. Mazda has been very mum about any actual rotary production, only tid-bits about the rotary R+D here and there. The only solid indication that there is a rotary coming at all is the CEO of Mazda stating publicly "as long as I am CEO, there will be a rotary", but even that doesn't really say when. It implies 2013 as the last RX-8s will be 2012s (in Japan, 2011 is the last year for the rest of the world), though they could easily keep producing a handful of RX-8s in Japan only for 9 years before making the next worldwide model. (the same way they shut down the 7 after 1993 for the world, and kept making them in Japan until 2003, when the 8 took over)

The only new model other than any potential rotary is the CX-5, which is coming next year and is a crossover SUV and is hitting headlines everywhere. Everything else new from Mazda is the chassis improvement and the new SkyActive engines.

Don't believe everything you read. Including what I just wrote above. Go investigate and find flaws.

you seem well informed ,I was just looking online under mazda and saw the concept car. Anyway the rx8 is fun as long as you can keep it together too many manufacture flaws, nor after market updates for speed like the old rx7 twin turbo. I see Ford is coming out with new Falcon 280 Boss engine next,if you want power.
