So I changed my break rotors from the stock ones to some drilled and slotted + steel break lines from rx7store.net. After having them installed I tried to drift by pulling the hand break but it did not work. It has been like that for a while.
I took the car to a shop, they adjusted the hand break and still was unable to drift.
Took the car to Mazda and they told me that the car is supposed to be like that. That is not supposed to drift when u pull the hand brake. How can that be true if when I got the car brand new it used to be like that like in any FWD or RWD car?
Lastly, I took to this shop and they said that it was due to the break pads.. I got 2 different break pads style...one ceramic, and the other the stock ones. It didn't work. They also said that the rotors needed to be resurfaced.. They did that to both rear and front break rotors and still doesn't work. Now there's even this squeaking irritating noise on the front breaks..like a whistle.

I need help, please!

If you really want to focus on using this drift technice then why not install one of those big levers with a direct link to pad. I'm not into drifting but I would assume this would fix the issue.

I really don't get the drift snobbery, around here. Perhaps had the OPs question been formulated a little more formally he would have gotten a better response.

OH and OP don't go to Mazda and talk to them about anything.

Basically the rear breaks don't lock. Parking in hills it's alright, it will lock at speed zero, but if I'm in movement it won't do much beside reduce merely the speed.. Before I had put these new break lines, hawk p+ ceramic pads and drilled and slotted rotors it would lock and make the car have some stopping reaction.

Is it clear now?

It's not snobbery. It's just that drifting is like street racing, 90% of the "drifters" are doing it on the street so they are endangering peoples lives. My favorite photo spot is getting difficult to shoot in because the security guards are running everyone off due to these dipshit drifters trying to renact the Tokyo drift scene in the parking garage.

Luckily I go out of my way to track down the security guards and let them know why i am there and they are cool with me being there. But I totally understand, it's a new parking garage and it's already full of tire marks and paint scraped all over the pillars where these dumb-asses hit the walls.

Now if he can post up some pics of him drifting at an actual event then I will respond with a worthwhile technical response. But I think the chances of him doing that are slim to none.

We can not assume that. There are amateur and professional drift series around the world that isn't done on the street. Are we to shutdown discussion of track racing and autocross just because there are street racers? That is retorical and correct answer is no. I will treat trolling of drifting thread the same as critics of automatic transmissions.

like I said earlier - go to some high coefficient of friction pads - like Hawk HP+ . There are probably others around with higher . Ask your brake supplier .

Regardless, if some asks how to improve their heel toe technique, you wouldn't flame them because it's winter and most SCCA events are not happening would you? No, even though know you know it is likely that they are practicing this technique on the street, which can also be dangerous.

No one would post in the troubleshooting forum on how to improve their heel toe technique. Learning how to heel/toe on a internet forum is next to impossible. And Autox and other track events are going on every month Winter does not affect those here.

Have you bedded the brakes properly? Use of your handbrake aside if the new pads are not biting and holding as well as you old ones you may just need to bed them in first.

i ment for him to keep i on the track lol, there is events everywere if not he can find a huge empty lot and ask the owners for permission

Whenever i want to drift without the dsc I do it..since the hand break hasn't been working I've been drifting only with the dsc off and not using the hand break.

Ima start learning drifting at higher speeds with the dsc off but I will need the hand break to help correct my angle or to enter the drifting mode for those who know what I mean.

I try to lock my breaks in low speeds, like 20mph and lower.. It's nothing.. It's just drifting like entering turns or to park.

I only drift in parking lots when no car is there or when it's raining and there's no car.. I do that in Lafayette but The drift events that I attend are in new Orleans. There will be one on jan 28.. It's a huge parking with cones ..
