hi im new to this forum and first time owning a mazda.
my 2005 rx8 auto 45000 miles is doing a couple of things wrong

first most important when i turn on the key all light dash come on it chimes radio works doors lock unlock what doesnt happen is when i turn it to crank nothing happens exept that the info center above the radio turns off while in crank then turns back on also i have to wait about 3 mins to get the security light to stop flashing. it does rapid flaching then goes away and dont come back until i turn the car off then back on.

second thing is the alternator is getting real hot if i leave the key on. is there a way to test to see if it is shorted.

i know the fuses are good checked and replaced the ones that were bad i know the TCM is bad the AT light on the dash is on and when i opened it up it has a burnt out area.

i dont know if they all have something to do with each other but i also had both hi and low beams burned out and turn signals burned out replaced the turn lights and they work just fine.

really lost on this and need help pls.

It sounds just like the problem I went through over the summer. Check the harness that runs up the drivers fender and into the firewall. Mine burnt through, and gave me electrical hell. Ended up having to replace the harness. It would crank from time to time, but would never start.
