Imobilizer Problem

I am going to post this thread although there are loads of thread on Imobilizers.

I have a small workshop in a country where there isn't a single Mazda dealer and fixing a RX8 is a major problem. Recently I was fixing a 8 (IG Coils Replacemetn, Fuel Pump Replacement, Plugs Replacement) and suddenly the 'Key Light' starts to flash. The car was starting and was fine exept the jet air pump wasnt working. So I was going to fix the jet air pump and the car got imobilised. There is no power in the IG coils the Fuel Pump wouldn't work and the engine wont crank. I check the starter motor and is fine. The code that I am getting is: /\__/\/\/\/\/\/\. This I got from the Key Light Flashing. I am assuming this is a Communication Problem with the ECU. I check all the posts but couldnt find a single solution. Let me mention again We DO NOT HAVE a mazda dealer in this country. So I am seeking help regarding this issue. Can anyone help with a proper guidance. I tried to reset the ECU but no use. Can anyone guide me . . . The 8 is 2003 6spd MT RHD

Thanks

Can you get a code reader to communicate with the ECU via the OBD port?

I could not try it with the OBD port because my scanner is in Korea for a Hardware Upgrade. I can give it a try... but is it possible to fix this issue?

Check the fuses ...can't remember which fuse it is...but it is the one that supplies the OBD connector...will make the car act like that

If you unplugged anything from the ecu then check the connectors firmly plugged in. Had one plug not fully seated after my engine change out and took me an hour to figure out.

That looks like a "code 16". Not sure it's allowed to post the link, but there is an online workshop manual for 2003 RX-8. You can look up the diagnostic procedure. I checked it out for you but it basically says you have a bad keyless control unit if you have no other "network" codes. So it seems you really should get your scan tool to check for any other codes present before replacing that unit.

I tried to get codes using my friends scan tool. There is no communication with ecu. I am planning to check the full wiring. Any suggestion?

Did you check the fuses...there is one that gives power to the OBD11 port..and if it blows it won`t allow the immobilizer to communicat with the ECU

I checked all the fuse and seems ok. Where is this fuse located??? I checked the fuses in the fuse box (inside the engine bay) and all are ok.
