so clutch in and functioning now wont start hooked up to another car

 

Do any lights come on when you attempt to start the car?

 

I glanced through this thread trying to get an idea of whats going on...
You keep saying "clutch" this and "clutch" that without a description of the clutch component... but it sounds like you're talking about the pedal.
If so, you installed the pedal and now the car won't start... right?
First thing you should look at is the starter interlock switch on the pedal assembly.
Its on the right-side of the pedal and the switch makes contact against a green pad.
Make sure the electrical connection is plugged into the switch, then press the switch's plunger in all the way with your finger.
Now try to start the car (no need to press on the clutch pedal since you're holding the switch... just remember to have the car in neutral).

It's very common to mess up the clutch switches messed up during the install.
Typically the plunger on the lower switch gets overly compressed. You can remove the switch and pull the plunger out carefully and reinstall the switch.

 

so i got it started but will not go in gear.... pedal doesnt depress deep enough to trip switch to turn on on the car

 

Did you bleed the slave cylinder?
Have you attempted to properly align the pedal?

 

ive attempted just about everything. Except Bleed slave it doesnt appear the need to be bled being that the pin goes all the way in and all the way out but the pedal does not. Im not very intelligent when it comes to RX8's

 

Did you pull the switch back out like I suggested?

Did you adjust your clutch engagement point?

Did you make sure that the rod connecting the clutch pedal to the plunger of the master was in place?

uhhhhh....I don't think you are understanding the problem that bleeding will resolve. It is not something specific to the RX8 at all...it has to do with hydrolics. The possible problem that you would be working to resolve is that air compresses more than hyrdrolic fluid. By bleeding the line you are removing all of the air from the line therefore applying more pressure when you depress the clutch pedal.

 

Do you ever get tired of repeating yourself

I still don't have a clear image of what is happening. Pretty sure it's getting worse instead of better...

The OP is clearly confused and should post some clear pictures or videos of what is going on.

 

bled clutch 1st and reverse no go so i tore apart transmission and re aligned the gears so it runs now thanks all for the help!

I believe he couldn't understand the need to bleed a clutch but was able to completely rebuild a transmission on his own. Congrats to you RX8cali for gettin it fixed.

 

lots of help and 6 packs of smokes all i was able to do was put the pedal on and tighten but every one else did trans thank god for friends.

 

Could you get one of those friends to summarize in a post here what was wrong?

 

So this is what happened. RX8CALI went on leave(military) and went to arizona, Upon arrival of checking in he let a friend borrow it and thats when the clutch pedal snapped he inspected right as those links were posted and didnt see anything unusual. so he continued letting his buddy drive the car (in and out of naval hospital wife had a baby) RX8cali gets a phone call that the clutch pedal was behind the brake pedal. so because his friend didnt want to take responsibility for his actions he FORCE shifted the car slamming it into first second and third causing the gears to miss align and the teeth on the clutch to get chipped. After the NEW pedal was installed (didnt have enough for reinforcement bracket) 6 of us helped out RX8cali pull the transmission down to take a look. and we found the super misaligned gears. So now he has a working car.

Yeah, thanks. I figured we hadn't heard the whole story. I'm glad he has friends who will help repair what other friends do

 

well it wasnt RX8calis fault he didnt get the truth until his other buddy left on leave he got a phone call at 4am and was explained everything. RX8cali learned a valuable lesson regaurdless of issue the person is having dont let anyone borrow your child. He loves his car. See you all at SEVEN STOCK
