Car got super hot now what?

Okay so I blew a hose yesterday in my car, and i kept putting water in it and watching to make sure it didn't get too hot. Well, my needle must have stopped working finally cause it got really hot, and started running really bad. Now after it sits about 30 minutes, it doesn't start well, and after it starts it sounds flooded. If i am driving down the street and shut off my car it starts right up, like new. Any ideas what would be causing this and how to fix it. I don't think it is a bad engine, maybe it is a cracked water jacket that is flooding the engine after it sits a few minutes. I'm gonna let it sit and then take out the spark plugs and crank on it to see if water comes out. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, once it starts it has a couple of puffs of white smoke or steam or something.

^why would you say that? Sounds like you over cooked your engine. So, "bye bye engine" sounds about right.
Were you expecting someone to explain to you everything that could be wrong? Google will give you the same results

How many miles and what year is your car? There's a good possibility that you also blew your engine and need a new engine, as laythor suggested.

You have compromised the rotor housing coolant seals. Your engine needs to be rebuilt.

Okay, any jackass would know that the engine is probably cooked. With the symptoms provided what would be a temporary fix if any, and what would be the fix. new apex seals new housings what? If you don't have any input besides bye bye engine then don't say anything at all. Any person would know that it probably got too hot, but what is the flooding issue? Or do you know? If you don't know then I don't need oh its your engine, well know f'n ****..

Thanks Grace for not being a complete douche. the engine has roughly 50-60k miles on it but realistically the miles are "unknown", I bought it from ebay about 3 years ago. I don't think my engine "blew" as it starts fine after it has been started and gotten all the flood out, but what is the flood? fuel? water? If I could figure that out then I could possibly fix it temporarily until I can get another used engine, or get Hill to rebuild this one. I am not too far from him. I could drive it to him on a weekend also and have him do it.

Call me a douche for stating the obvious, but all you had to do was pull over and get a $100 tow for $250 repair vs frying a $2500 engine with a $3000 repair .... yeah

No big deal frying the engine. And you will laugh but towing is free, but now I can get a engine rebuilt with it ported. And money isn't an issue really. And as far as I know it isn't $3000 for a rebuild, already got a quote from Charles Hill. If money was an issue I probably would have already gotten rid of the car.

Also, the flood is fuel, after it starts the car smells of fuel, but after 5-10 seconds its back to normal. It hasn't been hard starting since this morning though so I think it will be okay, until it gets worse.

It can be more than $10k depending on who builds it, the new vs old parts used, and modifications. It can also likely be a lot less than your other quote for the same reason.

though I'm sure you already knew about this too

I've had enough of my own self induced misfortunes not to laugh at anyone elses

Yeah, I don't give anyone obvious answers I always try to solve their problems, or give them something temporary, like pepper in the radiator. Charles Hill said to $2000 for porting and labor and any parts he may need, I am unsure if this includes apex seals, I would think if you are breaking it down then apex seals would automatically be replaced.
