Two months ago changed my front pads as they were very worn but still giving good braking . After two month and using the car everyday I expected the brakes to have worn in but under heavy braking its taking to long to slow down but under normal braking feels ok .
I've bleed the brakes all four sides there's no pulling to one side or judders .
The front discs are a little scratched and pitted so I'm wondering if they need longer to wear in ?
Any thoughts on this would be great.

 

That sounds like you have a pad compound with a too low temperature range, and under light braking, it's staying within it's effective range, heavy braking it's heating the pad surface higher than the pad is designed to work, reducing the effectiveness of braking.

It's also possible that the problem is something else, like the brake bias is off.

What pads are you using?

 

The pads are called Auto -x which I got from a company called mazdarotoryparts.co.uk which all the uk based clubs use for parts .
I'm not going to say there best pads in the world and I dont expect the wear to very good but would like to think that when doing emergence braking it would handle the job .

 

did you do anything with the rotors? have them machined? do the rotors have big grooves etc in them?

 

Checked them to day and there not to bad better than I thought quite smooth but a slight lip on the edge but the pads are siting nicely under that

 

I'm wondering if your front caliper slide pins have siezed. The rears could be slowing you down under normal braking, but in hard braking, just the rears wouldn't be enough.

 

When I put the new pads on I removed the slide pins and cleaned them up and lubed them back up again they seemed to be working ok

 

If you have the original hydraulic brake hoses, maybe they have fatigued to the extent they swell under braking, have someone depress the brake pedal hard while you have your hand wrapped around the hoses to feel if they do expand.

Edit, You did bed the pads in when you installed them ? It's a good idea to have the rotor's skimmed- machined when changing pads

 

Sounds like the pad compound is unsuitable for the street . Maybe talk to the supplier about what the pads were designed for ....
