I know about the beeping at redline and this is the same kind of beep when i first turn the car on. I just installed the AEM CAI the other day and it started after that. When I turn it on it'll beep a few times . Then only when its supposed to at redline. What does this mean?> No CEL lights or anything are on the gauges and the car seems to run fine. JW what is making this beeping noise at startup.

 

I don't have an 8 so I can't say for certain, but a lot of cars do that just at startup. I don't suppose that it was happening earlier and now that you installed the CAI you're looking for things and finally notice it?

 

I have an AEM intake and do not encounter any "beeping" sounds. Not sure what could be causing this.
I know if you don't have your seatbelt on it'll beep 5 times. Probably a long shot.

 

Just a wild guess here, but if you have the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) on your 8 the beep at start-up might be coming from this. Maybe the indicator light in your display is out for the TPMS is not working so you see nothing but still hear the beep? (I don't know if this is even a feasible scenario...) Quick check of tire pressure all around prior to start-up might confirm.

 

Make sure all of your doors and the trunk lid are closed completely.

 

The TPS light is on at startup but it was on before this and i never heard any beeps. It just satarted after installing the CAI. One time it was one beep the other time it was 4 beeps. it is the SAME tone as for shifting. I am really at a loss since there are no lights on the gauges nor any performance issues. I'm really lost hahah

I hear the same sound from time to time. It beeps 3-4 times at start. Not at every start. I couldn't correlate it with any condition. I have Parrot hands-free phone system installed, and thought that it was it, that makes these beeps. The only observation I made was that it only happenes when engine is warm.

 

I know this post is old, but it has no difinitive answer and I ran into and remedied this problem yesterday.

In short, Voodoo8 is right; the short "harsh" buzzer at start up is an early warning for low tire pressure. My (2004) 8 didn't have a low psi light on the IC, but when I checked my tires I noticed that two of them were low (i also dropped my driver rear tire's psi to 10 just to make sure the TPMS light still worked - it did/does).

I put all the tires up to 35.5psi, shut the car off, started it and the "buzzer noise" was gone.
