bad air pump?

My engine is starting to sound like a "jet engine" when it does a cold start. Kind of like this one posted below, but not near as bad. From what I understand its the bearings inside the housing of the air pump that are going bad. It only lasts about 30 secs ( I think this is when the air pump runs to heat up the CAT for emissions purposes). So is it a bad air pump? If so where can I get one? I've looked all over the net for a NEW one, but have came up with no success.

2004 M/T Grand touring model with 77,000 miles. No aftermarket parts as of right now.

You want to save cash now or later? If you buy a used one, you'll run into the same. Would you want to buy a used one now for cheap, that won't last too long. Or a new one now that will last 4-5 times as long

Look around for used - you don't NEED it till emissions check time, right?

I live in Indiana. We don't have emissions tests here so I really don't need it at all. I would just take it out if it didn't cause a CEL. And I don't have an access port so I can't remove it from throwing a CEL.

I was/am looking for a new one, but I don't want to buy one from the stealership.

Since this is emissions related, is this covered under the emissions warranty? Since i'm right under 80k and its NOT throwing a CEL as of yet, I might just unplug it to get my engine to throw the CEL and take it to the dealership.

PS: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/consumer/warr95fs.txt

Looks like it IS covered by the emissions warranty. Anybody know how to get this to throw a CEL?

exactly! lol... partsgroup wants 150 for a used one! Thats almost the price of a new one.

Here's one for 85 and they said they would even check it before they shipped it to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123
