I have an 05 rx8 with 50k miles on it. Whenever I seem to start it after it has not been running for a while (>5-6 hours) it seems to misfire more often then not. It also seems to happen more frequently in cold weather than in hot weather. Any thoughts on what the problem is? I am thinking it may be the plugs/wires but I am assuming that these were replaced when I had to get a new engine put in a year and 1/2 ago at 25k miles.

 

You don't know about the spark plugs so that wires and coils are a good place to start. When you say misfire what exactly are you seeing?

 

When I say misfire I get a CEL(ran the codes which indicated misfires) that blinks when I start up and I get a high idle that sounds like the timing is off. After a minute or 2 the idle decreases, the light stops blinking and the car runs normal.

the code i had was p0301
i guess im lucky

 

Hi i have just changed the plugs leads and coils, it still idles below 1000rpm roughly 850 to 750 rpm, has a little shake on it when its parked up an idle. slight misfire from the car. any ideas

 

Quick question: Will a misfire ALWAYS blink a CEL?

 

my #1 cylinder is misfiring. ive changed the plugs, coils and wires but the code keeps coming up. Any input?

 

Are all of your plugs/ coils/ wires going to the right connections? Are they all seated properly?
