02 Sensor Wire ?

So I got a check engine light in my car, pulled out the scan tool and it said it was the downstream 02 sensor failing. I put the car up on the lift and ordered a new sensor, as I pulled the old sensor out I noticed something odd. The entire plastic plug was completely melted. The wires are fine, must have been the exhaust. The 02 sensor intself is okay it's the plug not getting the signal to the ecu. Also noticed some wires running to the transmission were also melting.

Has anyone experienced this before? This is a bone stock 2004 RX8 that is about to turn over 40,000 miles.

Screw it I might as well replace the whole exhaust. Racing Beat sounds nice. I was going to do it anyway when I had some more money but might as well do it now if I'm going to tear the car apart this winter.

Well I ordered the RX7Store.com Rx8 Resonated MidPipe. I guess now I just need to cut the old plug and wire up a new one
