will an S2 trans fit in S1 8?

Hi, I have been having trans problems non stop, and just took my car in again today for a strange noise coming from the trans. I have heard and read that the s2 transmissions are much better than the s1, but I have not read anywhere if they are actually interchangeable. I know there were sincro problems with some 09 trans, so I would be looking for an 2010 trans.

I just want to know will a 2010 Trans drop into a 05 without many problems?

The 09 and 10 are the same trans. I don't know of any changes to any of the 09+.
I know Eric Meyer uses an 09+ in his race car. The trans is suppose to be more robust. If I remember correctly, the only external change was one of the sensors was moved to the other side (neutral switch ?).
There is at least one thread on here about this swap.

I don't have any problem with my tranny and I always beat the crap out of it :D

Hint : I change my tranny oil very often, at least once a year, one of the years I did twice.

but most people don't ...

even AT fluid, you supposed to change it every 15K or so. Ask Audi how many tranny failures they had, they supposed to have the best AT fluid.

The tranny may be the same but the differential is different if I'm not mistaken.
I recall reading that someone used the S2 differential in the S1 and got better gas mileage
But I digress... or am simply confused.

You will need to use the 09+ throw-out bearing. The electrical connectors are different and will have to be spliced together.
